Full name is Sky model X, was made by technomate I have no doubt. link for all you need is on http://www.anzwers.org/free/skyx/index.htm. U will see that all software used have the technomate on them. Maybe it is a clone.

Been trying to update this receiver but fun enough the software I have seem not to work. Maybe I have a wrong cable/ software/ operating system (Win XP - I trust Win98 for serial connections but had no PC with it at the time) or somehting.
Confirmed as Sky model X and uses mostly software from technomate. I assumme the upgrades from there should work too. So I try to connect to the receiver to backup the info I have and see if I can upgrade it. I get nowhere.
Now questions pop in my mind: Has anyone actually upgraded this receiver? If so, what was the environment? The OS, software, cable, etc. It could do good to me I thought I had a way out.

Been reseraching of this tool and believe me it is confusing. Anyway, here are the other links to the software on these models:- They include all these,

SKY X, S MODEL X/XX/X2, MAX PLUS and HUB TECH HTS 9300+, GUIDE ON UPDATING SOFTWARE

I finally found out the problem I was facing with updating the Sky X (S model X) digital receiver. So I have made this little guide to help those you face a similar problem.
To begin working with this, you will need the following (For software I have included the sites you can find them from. But if you still wont find them there, email me and I will send the files to you. boot_sectorz*yahoo.com):
1. The downloader (I suggest you use one form: http://www.anzwers.org/free/skyx/index.htm. Or from http://groups.yahoo.com/group/all-digisoft STB-SKYXLoader ver 2.0 is fine)
2. Rs232 cable ( I got one with straight connection, that was my problem. So make sure it is wired in this way: 2=3, 2=3 and 5=5. The wire form pin 2 should connect to pin 3. Null modem cable.)
3. Patches, files, keys, firmware, channels data you want to update with. (You get these from the two sites above also.)

And this is how you do it:

1. Connect RS 232C cable between PC and STB
2. Run STB Loader.exe
3. Browse the new software in your file directory
4. Check COM port
5. Power on your Satellite receiver
6. Click on Connect, and it begins downloading. (It shows downloading status on STB Loader and front panel display of the receiver)
7. After downloading is completed, STB will reset automatically
8. Go to System Information, check the version of your software or channel data. Make sure you power off the receiver.
9. Thank the people you spend time working on these things and email them to make them know it worked for you so they can do better things, and you are done.

If you need to download software on more units, you just leave STB Loader on and turn on the power of the next STB that you wish to download, it will begin downloading automatically.

Warning : Downloading inappropriate software does not accord with model no. of STB may create problem. Make sure correct software name and STB model no. and proceed downloading.

P.S. You can download the file attached (on top of this page). It should have all you need to update.

HEY boot,
Looks like you're confuse and also want compuse other people about
the skyx. Try to understand hardware compatibility/fixing software to match another hardw' then you can start talking yourself out.
You gonna make newbies kill their rcxs, if you really researched as you said then come out with something genuine not thinkin'-thinking as you think.

Well I help out those who need help. Frankly speaking, I don't do Dad Day Care arrangements, I'm not a kids teacher.
So the infor is for those who asked me a few questions. And most of them are happy. It is always a problem to find software for a Receiver that is mostly unknown.

To alkali + others even boot, here is the latest for skyx5, and skyx stbs are not mde by tm, cs or mp.
Alkali, does the patch for beausat works ok?

Too busy, I can't get all channels tested but shall work taquallas+others, try it yourself but the soft is tested ok works 100% Skyx (S Model X)

How to - MODEL X
- The main software is "SkyX_175p.Zip". Use the program
"STBTool.Zip" to download main software or channel data "SoftCAMKey"
file to the receiver.

*The code to open a scrambled channel on model X is 6969 two times.
Please enter this code two times each time your receiver comes from
main power OFF.

*To edit the key code via RCU please enter the number 8282 once.
Edit the key always on the right bouquet name and don't misplace the
code. Or you can updated key code the receiver by using PC.
select "keys" and open the file name "softCAMkey" and download it to
the receiver.
The file "softCAMkey" is available under hackers site
(FUN card files)Just click below link to download this file..

This software version has Auto Update key code for Nagra-Vision &
Viaccess channels.It Can open S*ca 2 channels

As for Sky X5, you can download the latest patch from here: h**p://www.satcentrum.com/upload/?action=dl&code=88abbd1f9f8df77a67c9 I don't have the X5 so did not test it. Can someone please test these and confirm if it is working?

Reinstall the software or upgrade the soft to last version 1.81. You can get it in my site at g*ocities.c*m/starcomft. If you can't get it fix to namal mode then your flash RAM is corrupted it need to be replace.
