Cool Activate RS232 port on Arion AF-8500MCI

I'm trying to access an Arion AF-8500MCI from my laptop to download the software, but having followed all the instructions I can find, I still don't seem to be connecting to the STB. If I input 42125 from the remote, the test shows RS232C failed, so I presume the port is deactivated - can anyone tell me how I might activate it? I have gone through the basics like checking my COM port number on the PC and the software (STBTool, Ariter etc)...

Any help would be very gratefully received!

Many thanks...
