humax v/s dreambox v/s echostar

i am planning to buy a new receiver. can anybody tell which one is better of hamx, dreambox or echostar. Or any other receiver is better than all of these. Which one of these is more user friendly and patchable. Any feedback on these will also be welcome

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

Well the Humax 5400 is the grandfather of patchable receivers and hasn't been made for a while, so finding a new one may be difficult, a very good and very popular receiver all the same. Not a fan of the modern Echostars, I don't believe that they are the same quality as the old ones and also don't believe that they have much scope with regard to patching.

The Dreambox is a different kettle of fish, not good for all users, as getting to grips with the setup can be a bit frustrating, but when set up well, it can handle most of what is available and has the benefit of a direct interface with your PC or network. It can also store as many channels as you require, no arbitrary limit.

Don't forget the newcomers though, the new range of Technomates are easily patchable and are starting to get a big following.
