Cool Silvercrest / comag sl65 software patch?

Hi, have been given advice and a link for software patches for the silvercrest sl65 the RAR file being cmg_SL65_sw_090805 and pdf instructions: SWUpdate_SL65_090805, Upload_PC2R_SL65_090805 and Upload_R2PC_SL65_090805. I presume the SWupdate (software update) is the patch? anyone know how successful this is and roughly how many channels might it unlock? Is it worth doing? what can go wrong if it doesn't?

Thanks,

markyd23

My System: Triple Dragon with a Steerable 1 metre Dish with & Diablo wireless & Dragon cam ver 3 & 4 card a matrix rev a cas3 and a load more stuff the wife doesn't know I bought.

I am also interested in this information has anyone done this ?
I am use to using a cam but have now bought this little box and would also like some step by step instructions on doing this as I have never done it before, I presume this is done via a pc? and if so what lead would I need?
any help would be appreciated...

Hi, you need a rs232 or null modem cable (both female connectors) - cost me £3 from a pc shop. Look in my previous 'help can't find hotbird' posts as there are links for the software patch, but I still don't know if these work.

No that's not the one. It is the same connection both ends, female 9 pin connectors - no USB connector.

Yeah looks it, as long as its a 9 pin female rs232. Believe it will work from USB (though don't rely on me) though serial to serial normally preferred.

Haven't tried this myself yet - waiting for a known to be working patch.

What's a mamster gameboy?
Do you think the SWUpdate_SL65_090805 is the correct patch? cos no forums anywhere seem to think a patch has been done yet. Or is this file just a bog standard update (as from astra1) with no nice freebies? Couldn't resist........

Looks like you're over run by them.

The patches are a bit thin on the ground and it's difficult to find anyone who will admit to loading one.

I have seen people claiming to have opened encrypted channels using the patches on some Comag models.

You can always download the original firmware if it doesn't work.

If it does......

Think I'll wait until one is confirmed (just a cautious view rather than a quote from her Maj) A bit like watching a boiling kettle at present but sure a patch will surface in the near future well, possibly!

My System: 'Fortec Star Passion' (& a dead SL65) One of them big Woks on the outside, and a thingy that moves it about a bit.
Question

No chance this will fry the box then?

Thanks Gandalf, doesn't seem promising at present but if he's produced patches for the sl55, then hopefully one for sl65 with appear in due course.

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

There is a sticky thread in the Portuguese section which refers to a patch for the 35 which works I believe on the 65.

Do you have a link to the file Move? May be worth starting a thread in the Receiver Software International section.

I can also confirm that the firmw. works with the SL 65. The rest has been more complicated with the Autoroll.

UPDATE 10 PM - The disabling of the Autoroll is changing one of the digits in the ID provider WITHOUT pushing the blue button.
