My System: 3m Motorised Dish with Manhattan Plaza ST-550
Dragon Cam

I intend buying a Dragon Cam with Phoenix programmer.
Before I do this, I want clarity on the use of keys. Will I have to get k*ys for the channels I wish to watch or will the CAM open the channels on its own. I am not in Europe so I fear it might be a problem getting k*ys for the channels I want.

Please help!

What package(s) do you want to watch - remember many are secure.

C-Band
The Phillipines mux on Telstar 10 (76.5E) [CON*X]
SABC - Intelsat 902 (62E) [Nagra 1]
Zee network on Intelsat 904 (60E) [Con*x]
Namibian Mux on Inelsat 10-02 (1W) [Con*x]

Ku-band
Some of the Nagra1 channels on PAS 7/10 (68.5E)
DMC bouquet on T12 (15W) [Cryptoworks]

Also is Videoguard, Mediaguard, Viaccess secure or would I be able open these channels?

As you can see many of the channels/sats I hope to view are not really what Europeans would focus on as you have so much more variety and options over there. There's not much else here in South Africa except for Irdeto2, Powervu and MDS/NDS - but that's all secure .

Scratch these off your list as they are secure, so if you want them, you pay for them..:

Videoguard - it is the same as NDS
Conax
Viaccess above 2.4
Most Mediaguard / Seca 2 are secure as keys are not known

Cryptoworks MAY be available with OPOS 1.5 cards, but depends if the keys are public.

So it appears I'd be wasting my money. There's not much in Nagra and they'll probably be going to more secure encryptions soon. Guss i'll have to stick with the fta channels.

Thanks for your help.
