Stay away from Dish TV India DTH DVR

I had used DTH DVR for 3 years in my stay in CA, USA. Ad free TV viewing and watching programs whenever I wanted to, made me a big fan of DVR (TiVO like) system. When I moved to India, I bought Dish TV India DTH with DVR for Rs16,000+ expecting a similar experience. But, this DVR does not even come close to the experince I had earlier.

Issues:

1. The EPG is only 24 hrs EPG.
2. There is no program search function.
3. When you are watching the programme "Info" button does not display the program titles etc.
4. When in time-shift mode it does not allow recording.
5. In record mode there is no "start-over" fucntion.
6. The DVR keeps crashing and rebooting on its own.
7. The controls are so sluggish. When I rewind/forward during a program the DVR just freezes!

Nice things:

1. It is a dual tuner system
2. There is USB cable to download recorded programs. You also also upload mpg/mp3/jpg/games

Looks the Korean makers (kaon media) did not do any QA and our freinds at Dish TV India just started selling it. If they did some research they would have found that the DVR is a matured technology (TiVO has been around forever now) and they could have gone for a better product.

The model that they are shipping now is kaonmedia KSC-N620H2MCO.
Hopefully they will get the bugs fixed in the next software upgrade.
