My System: pace digibox 2600 homecast fta receiver 100cm dish aimed at Astra 2D
Unhappy Pace 2500B fried? or solveable software problem?

Hi. Have recently bought pace reciever over Ebay. When I plug in I immediately get very strange menu that looks nothing like the set up menus listed in all the how to sites. The heading is Taget decoder Open TV. Have spent many hours looking already, there's nothing like it out there. It has a section for Network, where network ID and the rest is in there. Have tried all variations but will not connect. There's nothing for signal strength either. I already have a FTA hooked up to the satellite and the signal from 2D is fine, all the channels over 70 percent. How can I reset the machine or do something other than throw it away.

It's very dissappointing just before Christmas....
Can anyone help?

PS Have tried forcing software update by unplugging machine, pressing backup and turning on again holding button for god knows how long but no lights, no luck, just the same old menu.

Any pictures of the menu? OpenTV is what used to supply the software on old old old sky boxes....

I'll try and insert a link to the Ebay article. The good man was honest enough to supply screenshots of it all. I just assumed it would be easy.......

Thanks

I can see one of 2 possibilities.

Either its a test box with some weird firmware on it OR
Its got really ancient software on it .

In the absence of any further useful info I would be inclined to cut my losses and either put it back on enay or scrap it.

My System: Various digiboxes, broken Nokia 9800S, numerous analogue boxes. My lovely little lappy, HP Omnibook 6100

Just a thought. The backup button that you have been pressing is the one on the Digibox, isn't it? Pressing the one on the remote won't make the forced backup happen.

Hi. Yes, it is. I have tried pretty much all the other keys in all combinations out of frustration too. But no luck. I have agreed to cut my losses and move on. But thanks for the thought. Sometimes the simple things.........
