I am having Arion AF-1700E.
Software Version $SPRA20235170E
Database Version 00600009
Boot Version 0011.1

I would like to upgrade the software to the latest version.
What should I do. Please reply.

Hi,i had this bin, when i load in receiver but it 'll reboot in one min,i do not known what was wrong,maybe your guy try that,i try to fix bootload my receiver. post resume, please.Have a fun.

Hi,

I while ago I purchased a satellite receiver but I got it isntalled only a couple of days ago. So far so good.

After watching a few channels and looking through the menu of the sat receiver I decided to get help from people that know what they are doing cause I haven't got a clue.

The SW version is $SPHA333SS170EC
Database version is 00600009
Boot version is 0011.1

After reading a little bit I have a few questios to ask:

What's the advantage of a new firmware? I know that I might get new menu options etc but how do I benefit from that?

I'm interested in channels in English an Spanish, I can watch about 4 channels in Spanish and only 2 in English - is there any way I could get anymore channels?

What else can be done to enhance the receiver?

New firmware comes in two varieties for some receivers official and unofficial. Official manufacturers software may be a quicker scan speed or a menu revision as you mentioned. Unofficial software know as a patch contains built in software which allow you to view encoded channels without a subscription so I believe.

I do not know anything about your stb but does it have a card or cam slot??

Just to confirm I'm a newbie, I don't have a clue what a cam is

It definitely does not have a card.

A friend of mine says that you can enter codes through the remote control but I don't see any menu options that could use these codes.

Unfortunately I have enough language packs in my PC thanks so I'm afraid you will have to hope another Arion user can answer your question, or the 'friend' can explain what to do. My understanding is that a patch or a cam can be used and if you do not have either of those facilities then you will have to remain FTA or buy another receiver but I hope someone can prove me wrong!

Arion AF-1700E is patchable
so far as i know u can use allso this firmware Termal AF-1700 E
for the key editor:
menu-------19370-------2486
then goto games you will see "edit keys"

Well I spoke to my friend last night and he said that he was shown how to enter the codes but he never got round to do it as he couldn't find codes to unblock certain movie channels, so he moved on to another receiver :-( He is certain that you can unblock some channels with the af-1700 E but you just have to find the codes. He sent me an email with links to places that do codes but none of them work.

One thing that I found out is that the Arion is made in Korea but Ferguson makes an identical stb in Poland http://www.telstar.com.pl/index_en.p...&type=a&item=6
Maybe I can find a patch under Ferguson....

I will look for the firmware Termanl AF-1700E and see how can improve my stb.

Hi again.

I managed to download the firmware (AF 1700E FTA POLSAT FIX S170E_$OZK_A6479_20050905_AUCPCnc.auc), I think it's an up to date version - my Turkish is Zero

I don't know what this firmware improves my stb but I sure like to know.

It seems that AutoArioner converts the header of the firmware file automatially as I don't see any options to convert the header - please confirm.

Can the cable be any 9 pin serial cable (RS-232C) or does it have to be a special pin arrangemet?

While looking for information I came across "Arioner" anoher application software to upload the firmware to the STB. Can you comment on what software is better / more secure to do the uploading of firmware.

hi,

a few explication about autoarioner
you need a nullmodem cable male-female(9 pin subd cable),i think it will do what you have
AutoArioner - dedicated for upgrade firmware in Arion's tuners.
Auto select COM and set required header.
Description:
"File to send" - AUC firmware for tuner
"Scan" - Scan for listening and transmission
STATUS:
GRAY - port not exist
RED - port is busy
PINK - sending data
YELLOW - listening confirmation
GREEN - port ready to use
BLUE - error - close all application and try again
Progress bar:
Blue - load status
Red - estimate flash status
For new tuner use key:74620 in standby for detect header.

1.put your receiver in standby mode
2.start autoarioner
3.chose file to send
4.to detect the header of your receiver use remote control by pressing 74620
then you will see your type,ver,model
if not restart autoarioner again
5.then off and on again the receiver by the rear switch
and wait till shows "upgrade complet"
to active the emu(scrambled chanells):
menu-------19370-------2486
then goto games you will see "edit keys"
