Probably more than we imagine. As you can be as anonymous as you like on a forum, its easy to conceal your identity. We know that sat zapping is mainly a male dominated hobby and many ladies will choose to conceal their identities on a male dominate forum simply to avoid getting hassled / chatted up.

No idea Alex, I'm sure there are quite a lot who choose to stay anonymous to avoid undue attention.

But this section is not necessarily for the ones interested in satellite, it is for the ones who aren't.

My wife hits the sat-forums, but only to check up on me

Hi wife!
BTW, you look lovely today

Well, whilst that's very true (hmm, maybe not the lovely bit... in fact the lovely bit's fine, it's the 'today' bit that should read 'when I'm drunk' or 'in my wedding photos' or maybe 'when you're snoring', or even 'for your age'...), I'd like to add my encouragement to all the ladies out there reading this - you really should drop us a note in here.

We're a pretty respectful bunch (I'm only joking about my wife, - if I said something nice, she'd think I was having an affair...), and anyone that isn't will be hauled up in front of the Big Boss PDQ

I'll take my thirty lashes now Big Boss...

Girl here !!!

Well Hello to you all , guys. I'm please to anounce that I'm a female , and I love to participate in this forum, mostly on the Portuguese one and I have made many virtual friends there. Sometimes I also peak this english forum although never participated in it. At home I'm the forum frequenter unlike some members that answered this thread and it's great to be part of this Sat community...

As for the Portuguese forum we have participated in a Female / Male poll as well as the ages of the members , and the results were the following:
Vamos a votos
Masculino = Male ; Feminino = Female

Well Cheers to you all and a Happy New Year to you all.

Good for you I wish some of the female English language based sat enthusiasts would spend more time on the forum conversing with us old timers(and brightening our lives). Obviously not being able to understand Portuguese I have never had the pleasure of responding to one of your posts, hopefully you and I have just changed that

My partner has a moan every time I sit down to zap thro my sat channels. 'I dunno what u see in all these channels, can't understand half of them-foreign!why cant you take up knitting like other women?
I spend ages looking at different channels. My favorites are the Rotanna Zamman and Rotanna Clip (Arabic), MBC4 (some English)France 24, Al-Jazeera International(English)-the Witness programme on at 11.30pm each evening is very interesting.
I would like to watch Jay Leno but dont know how I can find it on Hotbird,Badr or Nilesat?
I also seem to get a good signal on Sirius2, but the channels just look like a repeat of Hotbird.
Girls like other things besides knitting you know

Oh, by the way-thanks for this corner for us 'silent' ones to vent our ire!

Well hello harrowwoman,

It's nice to know there is at least one woman in the English Section.
Well I don't know how to knit, as well as many things that's supposed to be womens tasks, but that doesn't make me less happier or less woman.

In fact my hobbie is pretty much hanging around the forum, I don't even get time to watch TV.

Regards.

Well, my wife and I will be holidaying in Olhos 'd'Agua again this year and from what's posted here I will try spotting the knitters from the sattters. Are there any obvious signs to distinguish between the two? I suppose someone linked to a pair of needles and wool would be obvious but, other than that, looks like it will have to be instinct that decides.

Well yeah, there are obvious signs. For instance, the sat girls are the most good-looking who don't speak about soap operas, because we don't see them; and we like looking at guys wondering if they are the ones we talk to in the forum.

Looking at the merchandise for Satelites UK I wondered why the prices are in dollars? I was thinking of purchasing some of the baseball tops. Could we not have the prices in UK pounds please?
Oh, and I have done something really daft and deleted one of the satelite, (Badr) then thought I would be clever and put it in manually now I cant get the receiver to pick it up again properly.
The list is there (on Badr)but it just says no signal all the time on the channels I used to get.
Sigh
