ASTRA 1M will operate 36 transponders for the first five years. The satellite is expected to provide a minimum service life of 15 years. She will operate at 19E, and is expected to launch in late October 2008.

This is not an official map - its from the November 2008 edition of Tele-Satellite magazine. The SES maps will be added when released - I expect there to be at least two maps from SES.

At long last Ive tracked down the official transmission footprint for the new Astra 1M.

We see a nice widebeam pan European transmission area when she goes into service in a few weeks time

1M went into service overnight on January 19/20th 2008, and when the foorprint map was published we had a surprise - theres a widebeam footprint as well. Members in the Middle East report good signals as far east as Dubai so far
