Telemann 1680S2

Hello everybody,

Thanks to alek.sat i heared about this DVB-S2 capable relatively cheap (ca. 550€) spectrum analyzer: _http://www.telemannco.com/e-1680s2.htm

Since most of the online shops selling it are located in Poland and Czech Republic i wonder if anybody here has experience with it. If so i'd like to hear about the pros and cons.

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

Had never heard of it until you posted about it, looks quite good value.

Me neither. I was aware about the existance of the company Telemann. Seems to have read about it years ago in TSI magazine but forgot them. I wonder what do much bigger spectrum analyzers of other manufacturers make better ? Are their mesurements more reliable or does Telemann produce in a smart way much cheaper ? For that money it looks quite a good deal.

Seems that nobody knows it.

Anyway, I have two general questions about satmeters:

What about the accuracy ? Does it differ a lot getting much better for expensive models ?

This one is at ±2.0dB (5~50℃). So if you get say a C/N=7.2dB in real it can be between 5.2dB and 9.2dB ? This sounds to be a lot. Or am i misunderstanding something ?

By the way, is it normal for a meter to have blindscan integrated ? Have never read about this before although a clear spectrum view should show up new carriers.

And final question:
Does every sat meter allow to enter the LOF freely so that one can measure also L/S/C/Ka Band ?

Hi guys, just some info from my experiance of teleman meters. very bad build quality and difficult to navigate menus in the old models. out of the 20 i have seen all were unrepairable after 2 months. satcatcher meters can be used with any system and every parameter can be edited by hand.

What a pity. But it was a mistery to me how Telemann could offer such cheap and well equipped spectrum analyzers.

There must be a reason for why installers here in Germany prefer much more expensive Kathrein, Unaohm, KWS, Spaun, Rover, Promax and maybe others that i've forgot to add.

Anyway, better let us keep on discussing about Telemann. Maybe somebody has another opinion having tested this particular product of them.
