Fte Maximal - Serie mediaMAX MINI S

I'm staring out in dish installations and I'm based in Cyprus. I will be mostly fitting Nilesat, with a few Hotbird as well.

I've been researching meters for a while now, and have read a lot of useful information on this site... predominantly from the learned user 'rolfw'.

I was about to order the Satlook Digital NIT, until I noticed that the screen only displays analogue TV images. When I checked Nilesat, there are no available 'clear' analogue channels (there are some on Hotbird from the Dune(HU) supplier).

I then discovered the Fte Maximal - Serie mediaMAX MINI S, but I cannot find a distributor in the UK! (i'm in the UK now and I need to buy a meter before I go back to Cyprus at the end of the week)

CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT WITH A SUPPLIERS TEL NUMBER??

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

Have a look at one of these _http://www.satcatcher.com/digipro_excel_tv, seen them and look very good.

Don't think anyone stocks FTE product in the UK.

SATLOOK Digital NIT??

Hi Rolf and thanks for your response...

... I've been researching the Satcatcher DIGIPRO EXCEL-TV that you recommended.

It looks really good as you said, but I was wondering how it compared to the SATLOOK Digital NIT?

The SatCatcher is colour and light and small and cheaper than the other one... but the SatLook has NIT. I dont think the SatCatcher has NIT.

How would you decide which one to go for?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well I'm a fan of the NIT, don't really need MPEG decoding, as the meter provides enough information generally to check reception quality. Having said that, it is a little dated now and aside from being much lighter, newer meters give far more information and a wider variety of measurements for trouble shooting (I use my rover ST4 for real problems, but it is nowhere near as quick as the NIT for finding)

Any meter which offers a visible spectrum display is great for sat finding, as satellites have unique spectrum signatures which you will quickly come to recognise. The rover ST4 doesn't have NIT, but like the Satcather uses three unique transponders from each satellite, then as a final check, will decode a FTA TV channel.
