Hello sbt,

I am using Hauppauge Nexus-S which is PCI and it is very good.
But since you need USB for the laptop, then look for their other models:

The USB model is not HD
The CI model type will enable you to insert smart cards.
Please bear in mind that I am not recommending any of the USB products, since I haven't used them myself, but the manufacturer is one of the best in the world.
