My System: Starsat SR-X4200D receiver, a 180cm dish with two LNBs' (13° and 19.2°). PC: Pentium 4 2.4Ghz, 160GB HDD, 1GB Ram and a 512MB DDR2 graphic card.
A request concerning Skystar 2

Hello all,
I recently bought a Skystar 2 card version 2.8 and I heard that it is possible to receive the one way satellite internet (surf and download) without suscribing to a service provider. So, if someone knows the trick please explain me how to do.

There used to be a free service called Casablanca (Sat@once) that made it possible to download all kind of files. I never used it because the service was on a satellite that my dish didn't point to.
AFAIK this service stopped last year.
I am attaching here the readme file that came with the software.
Perhaps there is something similar on another satellite, but it won't be as good as a standard internet ISP.

Sat@once is probably still alive

Just checked the sat@once service website and it seems to be still active.

Download the software. You need Astra 19.2E
Please report back and let us know if it is working and your impressions.

I can see how you can receive lucky dip web content with that, but it isn't for surfing and I really can't see much value in it.

Yes. I agree.
But it is nice to utilize the PC card to get something for free since a stanalone STB doesn't have this capability.
Just an academic learning thing.
There might be other services that I am not aware of, so some Google search might help.
