I bought a CI module with the SS2 HD2, but I'm having no success in getting the module to be recognised in DVBViewer (Pro version). All other functions work perfectly. Other viewers (DVB Dream, ProgDVB etc.) will not work with this version, as the Mantis driver that comes with this SS2 is not recognised in those applications. The card appears to be a Twinhan VP-1041/Azurewave AD SP400 clone, which also uses the Mantis driver, so using the driver from the Twinhan site would not be of much use. Tried it on a Linux distro, and can get the card front end recognised if I change the subsystem ID's, but there's no Common Interface support for the card anyway, so that avenue isn't open. Anyone have any ideas ? Llew

| Hi Llew, Did you buy the card and CI CAM at the same time or you have just purchased the CI CAM recently as an addition? I think that I would try to uninstall both, software and hardware and then follow the instructions about how to do a first install. With my Hauppauge, I had to install first the drivers and only then the hardware, but Technisat might have a different method. Try to check their website for any information and also send e-mail to support about the recognition problem. Good luck. | ||

There's nothing on the Technisat CD that mentions the CI CAM (drivers, plugins) or in the manual. Also, nothing on the Skystar site as far as I can tell. I did reinstall the card, but still no go. Could be a faulty CI module I suppose. As you suggest, I'll contact Technisat for any help they can provide. Cheers, Llew

| I also discovered that there is no info about my CI CAM module. I think it is a conspiracy among all those OEM manufacturers to give as little as possible about it. Perhaps this way they get away with any licensing requirements for incorporating a CI module? Anyway, the card comes with a TE version and you mentioned a Pro version? What is the difference? Perhaps the TE can recognize it? Also latest software version on website is Software-Version 1.1 last update: 2008-03-11 | ||

| One more thing Llew, did you insert a CI CAM module with a smartcard into the CI module or just tried to see if the PC would recognize the CI card first? Try a Viaccess red PCMCIA module first if you have it or any other dedicated modules (Irdeto, Conax, etc.) | ||

The Technisat TE edition is basic in the extreme, no CI mentioned in any menu. At least the Pro version has a box (just above the Scan Devices box), but it's greyed out -

| Hi Llew, If you still have this problem, I have seen this note in the installation guide: Now you have to choose a free PCI slot. If possible choose a different slot than the slot next to your AGP connector. You could also try to change the position of the PCI slots of the card and CI, make sure that they are firmly down. I had once a problem with a network card and it turned out in the end that it wasn't deep enough inside. I believe that these PCI slots where designed by women. | ||

Yes, I've tried different slots for the SS2, with no difference. Apparently the greyed-out CI 'experimental' box is only for other types of CI modules (USB?). I'll check the TE edition again, I think after all there is a CI menu there somewhere. Thanks anyway, Llew
