Problme with SCPC channel - Need help and advices

Hello there,

I don't know if it is the right section to post in but i didn't find a better one so .

I work for a company that provides Internet access for mobile environment. For this we use a satellite link to provide a two directions access to the Internet. I have recently installed an equipment using a SCPC channel for prototype purpose.

On the forward link there is no problem whereas on the return link that's another story. When everything goes well, it works good 5Eb/No on the return link of 10 dB) BUT sometimes the link is very unstable: the HUB modem sees an Eb/No fluctuating between 0 and 4 dB over a long period of time. At same time we can hear the repetitive sync and unsync of the modem. It stays like that over a large period of time and then the problem is fixed on its own. After having done a inspection of the installation in the HUB, i can tell that the problem is not coming from there. The problem is coming from the mobile unit on the ascending return link.

I am just wondering if some guys here around have already experienced that kind of problem and if yes what was the cause of it?

I know that i could change the terminals and do a "environmental noise" analysis but i am a bit far from there so perhaps there is another solution.

The more insights i get, the best it is.

In advance thank you.

Mmmm

Well I do hope you get a reply to your post but perhaps not, after all this is a satellite TV hobbyist forum and your question is about a specialist area with no connection at all with satellite TV reception, so be prepared to be disappointed.

I have moved your post to the internet by satellite section
