Skystar HD card fitted...where do i go from here ??

Firstly i want to apologise for asking a question that has probably been asked before, although i cannot find it anywhere on here. I have tonight fitted my brand new Skystar HD card into my pc. I will be fitting the dish within the next week. I have not been able to resist the temptation to have a look at the software that came with the card, mainly technisat TV Centre. As i still have yet to install my dish and connect it to the PCI card, there is not much that i can do..I was expecting some easy to use software that will assist me to align the dish properly, so i will be able to use the motor and use other satellites. Can anyone tell me how i know if i am on the correct satellite, prior to using the provided software to set it all up ??

My System: Win Nova-S2 DVBViewer

I dont have the technisat card but i do have the win-nova-s2 on a fixed 28.2 zone1 dish, I used after reading many helpful posts on here Fastsatfinder software its great and i would imagine the tops for motorised too.

Again after many days reading i opted for DVBViewer software for watching after trying both the supplied software and progdvb and dvbdream, DVBViewer gave me the best overall picture and its a doddle to setup as well.

Good luck with the dish install

Thanks for your reply, I recon i have jumped in at the deep end with this one..lol. I may try and borrow a satelite meter, or even get a professional in just to align the dish up for me, then i can concentrate on working out the suppied software. I have to say that the instruction manual for the card is not that "user friendly" I am reading things what mean nothing to me...But i suppose that is what all the fun is about...learning a new thing.
Here is the manual for this card if anyone is interested in having a read

My System: Skystar 2 HD, 85cm Dish Astra 28.5 , Astra19.2 & Eurobird 9
Software for Skystar2

I also would recommend the DVBViewer software. I've also got a Skystar card and the Techisat software is very average. The DVBVieweris easy to use and has fast channel changing and and the ability to set up various channel lists.

Good luck.

Thanks tonemorgan, i have purchased DVB Viewer and installed it, i have had a quick look at the software to see how good the interface is compared to Technisat's. However when going through the set up pages, my card is not being recognised. It is recognising my happague Tv card, but not this one. I have checked in device manager and it is showing ok there. Is it because the technisat card has no dish connected ??

HI

You may need to to look a TechnoTrend card in the software as i had to. I believe they are basically the same thing just with re branding. That should help you identify it.

It appears that the drivers were not installed properly, i reinstalled them and DVB Viewer now recognises the card...just gotta wait till the dish is fitted now...i am now trying to work out which satellite furthest East i will need to receive from. As my dish will be 85cms, i think the furthest satellite i can use is Intelsat 902 (62 degrees east ) although i am not sure what this satellite broadcasts....Its all to help me decide where exacly to fit the dish, as i am limited to locations to choose from. Thanks for helping me

I have another problem where i am unable to get any software to control the DiSEqC technomate TM-2300 motor. The supplied software is bloody useless, and DVB Viewer is a good piece of software, but it still has problems in moving the dish to different channels/satellites that are stored in memory i.e...i want to go from Thor to Astra etc. I am wondering if its possible to use Fastsatfinder to move the dish prior to selecting the channel needed when using DVB Viewer ??
