TV Out by Graphics Card ?

Has anyone managed to do this and if so by what connection ?

I have a FX5600 XT and there is a DVI and S Video connector on the Card, but have just purchased a S Video to S Video and have just found out it won't fit the S Video on my Graphics Card

So what do peeps do to pipe to the TV ?

Cheers

What connector is on your card? If it isn't a Mini-Din you can usually find a cable to convert it for your TV. Or make one up yourself with various adaptors.

Not sure what connector is on the Card, the strange thing is, is that next to the port it reads S Video

Cheers

I thought it more apposite to stick it in the computer section Lance, as it is concerned with the video card. Not to worry

Probably a S-Video shaped socket but one that takes a non standard S-Video plug. Some Radeons for instance have 7 pin sockets that take audio and composite video out of the same 7-pin connector. The reason for audio is quite obvious; the reason for composite video being output by a dedicated pin rather than a convertor less so - the composite feed when output this way is allegedly cleaner than if converted by a S-Video to composite video convertor. Some of the pin outs described here www.digit-life.com/articles2/radeon-tv-out/ may be useful.

After a bit of searching the best thing I can come up with are the following:-

Ebay.co.uk/ws/EbayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=6734277660&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT" target="_blank">http://cgi.Ebay.co.uk/ws/EbayISAPI.d...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

and

Ebay.co.uk/ws/EbayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5742517186&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT" target="_blank">http://cgi.Ebay.co.uk/ws/EbayISAPI.d...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

I have the composite socket on my TV, so should these be ok ?

Would rather have gone for S-Video to S-Video, but can't seem to find a 7pin to 7pin or a 7pin to 4pin converter.

Cheers

Hello,

I have a FX 5200 with TV out through S-Video, I purchased at Radio Shack a RF Modulator and this is what I do for watching movies in my old TV :

I connect an S-Video cable to the Video card TV out and a standard audio cable from the computer's Line Out to the RF modulator, the RF modulator is connected through a coaxial cable to the TV.

I also owns a FX-5700 and the card came with a special connector for Video In and Video out through S-Video or composite. I haven't tried to connect it to my TV yet.

The following product looks interesting:
http://www.aver.com/products/comptv_AVerKey550.shtml

P.S.
The RF Modulator is a small box used to connect a DVD or any video component to my TV.

Hi

I have a FX5600 and it only has the 7pin S-Video connector, the 4 pin cable is not compatible.

Also mine didn't come with that converter you mentioned on your FX5700 and don't know where I can find one either.

Cheers

I've found one on Ebay Bad news is it's in the USA Here's the link to the adapter: Ebay.co.uk/ws/EbayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41993&item=6735839865&rd=1&ssPageName=WD2V" target="_blank">http://cgi.Ebay.co.uk/ws/EbayISAPI.d...sPageName=WD2V

I know how easy it is to get hold of the composite convertors - I used to sell them on Ebay - but getting hold of the S-Video leads is a nightmare. One thing that *might* work in your case, if you're willing to risk it, is to break of the plastic tab on the S-Video plug that is just below the 4-pins. This can often stop the S-Video lead going into the S-Video socket on such non-standard connectors. At your own risk but if you have an S-Video cable lying around doing nothing it might be worth a try....

Depending on the TV Out chipset of your nVidia card, do an internet search for "TVTool" which has been recommended on here before.

I had a similar problem with a Riva TNT2 card and this software solved it.

Got to "Adjust", "More Options", "Colour Carrier" and then move the fader. I brough my carrier down to -61 and it seemed to do the trick.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Did TVTool recognise the TV-Out chipset of your graphics card?

Yeah it recognised it, but couldn't alter the colour from B&W (more of a murky colour or non lol).

Will keep you posted on the Streaming.
