My System: Dreambox 7000, Skystar2

There were a couple of guys on here that were playing with it, but I think they blew it out in the end as they were getting 10% useable files and 90% junk - most of which was infected with various nasties.

Be very interested to hear any positive experiences in this field.

just to be clear, to connect to internet via satellite, you'll need a transmission/reception LNB ,after you'll need an internet provider

are you sure? i thought the concept was ye olde analogue modem on the upload to connect initially and all download content came across the satellite. i.e. http request get large file through your phone, couple of seconds delay huge download starts coming off of your satellite link.... dunno - cts

Yeah - It comes in two flavours,

The one cts just described is the more common of the two
and for commercial use or if you are just plain loaded you can
have an uplink to the sat as well if you feel you need that kind of upload speed
to the net.

satellite internet is very ropey and very expensive - good download speed - it suffers from lag and delay though making it nigh on impossible to use stuff like VOIP(skype) etc
avoid if you have other ways of getting broadband .....

All very valid points, but it's a real shame that the content of the existing data transponders is so sh!te and so fragged-up, as it would be the perfect one-way high-speed download tube for gettin' all those naughty goodies...
