Unhappy Can I recieve Hispasat?

I am using a skystar 2 pci card and a 80cm fixed sat dish. I can't find hispasat 30 degrees west. I have a satellite finder and I can find astra, hotbird etc no problem but I cant seem to find anything west. I am in the north of Scotland so do I need a bigger dish or just more patience when trying to find hispasat?
Thanks.

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

From the look of the footprint http://www.lyngsat.com/hispa.shtml (click on Europe in the right hand column), you should be OK. Should also be worth trying for Thor 1W and you may pick up a bit from 5East.

Remember that the bird is quite low in the Sky from your location, the dish face will be pretty much vertical with a standard offset dish. Also make sure that you have a frequency selected that has a multiplex on it, I use setup4pc to do this by creating a new satellite and entering the transponder information, then you can see easily when you have a good lock.

Can you please tell me what transponder settings I should have for hispasat, I have found a faint signal using a sat finder meter but I don't know what to do now?
As you can probably guess I am new to satellites.
Thanks

Still not working, I am now trying to get hipsasat with an old 1 metre analogue dish with a digital lnb but still not having any luck, are the two compatible or would I be better sticking with my 80cm sky dish?

Just a point Davie, are you skewing the LNB? It needs to be at about 5 O'clock as you look from behind the LNB towards the dish. If you have it set as you did for the Eastern sats, you will get very poor results.

Thanks Rolfw,
I'm afraid I have a new problem now, I have got the satellite using the settings above about 45% signal but I still can't recieve the channels that are on hispasat, when I scan using dvb viewer I get about 200 channels, Only about 5 are unencripted and they are all test cards or something like that. I get only one radio channel which is emergency broadcast.
Please help as I am getting fed up with it.
Thanks.

Right Davie, now you've found it you're gonna have to download MyTheatre or ProgDVB, if you have XP, then my preference is MyTheatre, you will also need the latest Yangse and softcamkey, you'll find the last two at Toecutters. MyTheatre you'll get at http://www.happysat.org/ go to downloads, TV apps and get MyTheatre 2.76.

Toecutters is HERE Davie, what operating system are you using and have you selected SS2 in the config menu of MyTheatre?

I selected sky2, scanned Hisposat and it found no channels so I uninstalled my theatre, reinstalled it still nothing and it is still giving me the same error. wierd but it has hisposat down as 330 degrees, Also I noticed that only 2 of the satellites in the scan menu have info for them ie LOF1, SW and LOF2 whatever they are, Do I put them in myself and what should they be?
Sorry for being so stupid but hopefully I will get there.

They start from 0 degrees and go right the way round, 30 degrees West of south is in fact 330 degrees, 1West is shown as 359degrees..

Should be more than that, but of course you could be slightly off beam and a bit out of the footprint for the dish size. A better one may be 1W, more in range and available at the moment.

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 6 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/10E/13E/16E/ 19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

The last noble sat warrior to fly the olden flag of Analogue

60 or 80 cm dish (not an elliptical sky dish) and skew the lnb (rotate it in its housing) so the lnb is set at about "4 oclock" when you are standing in front of the dish

An easy catch in Scotland

My System: Technomate TM6900 HD Combo Super PVR Ready 1.2 Channel Master with 0.3 Inverto Quad LNB on C120 Andrews feedhorn motorised with a Jaeger 12" actuator
Spanish Channels

Once I figure out how to realign the polar mount and my dish over the next couple of weeks I will be able to give you the answer.

I am as far west as Telstar 12 at 15 west and at the current rate of progress (verrry slow) I should be at 30 west by the weekend!!

My receiver, dish motor and LNB are new but the dish and polar mount are circa 1994 or 1995.

I am currently reviving a motorised system I last used 10 years ago when analogue was the fashion.

I am now having a bash at confronting the new digital era!!

Finally got round to setting up my motorised system. After making all the usual mistakes and scratching the head raw I have finally found 30 West with a signal quality of 75%.

Still to fine tune the dish settings but after all the practise I have now had I am confident of getting an even better signal.
