motor movement advice

My humax 5300 has broken down, so im stuck on astra 28, and viewing channels via my skystar usb on my computer.
The skystar usb does not appear to have options to operate on diseq 1.2.

Whats the best option for me to move my dish motor again via computer if possible

I use altdvb that has built in diseq, and allows you to move the dish a number of steps at a time ..works quite well ... I did try progdvb but could never get it work with the plugins and alternative device drivers ..just gave up in the end and altdvb worked straight away

pardon my ignorance here, but is it just a case of uninstalling my skystar usb, then reinstalling with the altdvb software ?

So the altdvb software uses the skystar to move the diseq 1.2 motor ?

Hi, You can find altdvb here http://www.altdvb.ro/

Its basically a Viewer, so that you keep your existing Skystar usb in place with its drivers and then insatll Altdvb. When you open ALtdvb a box will then appear asking you to click on the hardware you have ..in your case it should show skystar ..click on that and press ok ..and then the program will open. You may then have to scan the transponders to get the channels you need etc ...but to move the dish click on the Tools button and disecq will be in there...
So Altdvb will use the skystar to move the dish

My System: skystar2 pci skystar usb + porty lidl camping dish maybe one day i'll have a dreambox 500s...

Don't get alt-dvb from its site, get it from dvbn as there's no link on the altdvb site towards the latest version, 2.2.

Robxxx7, i imagine that you've only been able to get alt-dvb to move your dish because you've got drivers 4.4.0 am i right? Otherwise there would be no native diseqc 1.2 support.
This is an important issue that one must bear in mind.
Alay, otherwise, people usually use mibi's modified driver in order to use diseqc 1.2 motors.

Rob, Kamaleon, yes i managed to get only alt dvb 2.1, but it got in a mess trying to install it .

I am a little green in this area, so any advices you can give will be highly respected.

Can you tell me where to get the altdvb 2.2 and how to install it if its not straightforward, then can i use that to move my 1.2 diseq motor through my skystar usb, or do i need additional software/hardware ?

Im worried if i get it wrong, i might damage the skystar but i supppose thats not the end of the world, but id like to avoid that if possible.

ok guys, ive downloaded the 2.2 version, but it only has the skystar 2 as a choice in the equipment selection menu.

It also stated that premium cards (skystar 1) is no longer supported.

"Does this mean that it will not operate with skystar usb original model or that it will indeed operate with skystar usb original model ? "

Do u guys know for sure or do i take a shot in the dark anf try it anyway

Alt-dvb 2.2 works flawlessly with my ss2 usb.
I think your getting things mixed up here. Skystar 1 has nothing to do with skystar usb.

Hi alay,
You could try downloading the lnk below from the Technisat site, these drivers are for x64 bit XP, so maybe worth a try

Hah, everything was ok unttil i tried to scan in some channels or switch channels a few times. Computer crashing to blue screen

Turns out that my motherboard is not compatible with technisat at this moment.,

Here is technisat reply to my problem

it seems, that the nVidia nForce 4 based mainboards have problems with
the TechniSat DVB-PC TV Stars devices and you cannot install the drivers
to the system. We know this problem and we are currently analyzing this
behaviour of your hardware/software in combination with the nVidia
nForce 4 chipset.

Currently we cannot provide any solution for your problem.

I dont know how long i will have to wait for a solution, meanwhile, does anyone know of receiver that is compatible with my chipset ?
