Another Noob :-)

Hi all, have been lurking around here for a few days trying to learn what I can and thought it about time I registered and thanked you all for the info you all post.
I have a PCI DVB-S card hooked up to an Astra/Hotbird monoblock LNB on a 90cm dish and was rather pleased to be able to get DVBDream to retrieve a huge list of channels from the Hotbird group after I'd spent a few hours up and down the ladder lining the dish up :-)
Of course many of these are encrypted and I understand that a number of different encryption systems are in use. Some open to "home" decryption, some not. My question is this : For those systems that require a key file it seems to me that there are a number of different utilities around that can retrieve these files from different internet sites, however they each seem to be configured to retrieve the file for a particular set of channels. For example, if I want to watch channels A, B, C, D & E I need the relevant key files, however I need 1 file for channels A to C and another for channels D to E. This means that downloading 1 key file overwrites the other so I end up only able to watch channels A to C, OR channels D to E. Should I be looking for some universal "I can grab everything" update program or do I just need to widen my search for an all-singing-all-dancing key file ? Or, is that just the way things are and I have to make a choice as to which channels I want and stick with it ?
I'm quite happy to continue searching and trying things out, that's part of the fun of it all, but if anyone has the names of any useful bits of software that might help I'd appreciate it :-) By the way, I'm running vPlug 1.4 at the moment and that takes great delight in telling me I'm missing control words and provider keys all over the place :-)

Apologies for the long post and further apologies if this is in the wrong place.

My System: FTE Max, Skystar2.3 and Skystar2.6, 2.2m Kinhuge Dish with Inverto LNB and Invacom ADF-120 feedhorn. Pace 1.3.25 and 80cm for Sky.

DVBsoft.eu has a good selection of up to date plug ins, try there. As you say though it is a bit pick n mix.

You could of course edit the files with notepad and just paste the one into the other and re save the file, your softcam will just ignore anything that isn't relevant.

I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one.
