Skystar HD - any good?

Hello

I've been looking at the Skystar HD card on and off for a while, but can't find too many posts around the net from people that use one. I can't wait for the Dreambox 8000 anymore and would like to capture and playback BBC HD and other free HD channels. Has anyone used this, or other HD PCI cards, and managed to capture and playback ok? Does it capture as a ts stream and what processor/graphics card has it been successful on?

TIA

Hi, may I suggest you look at the Techno Trend S2-3650 CI usb box it is a brilliant bit of equipment, and you do not need to install it inside your pc, and using it in conjunction with dvb dream software it will depending on the power of your pc, handle HD and with the right codecs 4.2.2 feeds. It also has a CI slot should you wish to use it. If you google Techno Trend you will probably find the in depth review. However you may find the skystar 2 more satisfactory to your needs, but if using s2 do not use the usb version as it will not work with HD [ I had one] but from all the posts and reports I have readthe pc version [ with the right codes] will get you HD. However if you look back thru the many helpful posts on here, you will find heaps of information, and a lot of clever people who will be able to help you a lot more than myself with any questions, good luck

If he were not a wizard, from head down to the root, you would have got to worry-your DB only boots

- Operating-system: Windows 2000, XP SP 2
- DirectX 9 or higher
- Soundcard
- CD-Rom

For HDTV (1080i / MPEG4 (AVC/H.264) )

- 3.4 GHz P4 (Single Core with Hyperthreading) or
2.2 GHz AMD 3500+ or Dual Core P4 D820 / D830 or
Dual Core AMD X2 3800+

- ATI X1600/X1800 oder NVidia 6600GT/7600GT
