My System: ProgDVB SS2
ProgDVB, XP SP3, SS2 PCI, no go so far.

Hi all, I'm trying to get ProgDVB to work on XP Pro SP3 with a SkyStar 2 TV PCI that I just bought new.

ProgDVB is version 5.15.5 and I just downloaded the driver (version 4.4.3.0) for the SS2.

When I check the hardware/device I see it was installed ok but when I try to use ProgDVB I keep getting "Progdvb Engine ! Device not starting! (Sky Star 2) OK"

BTW - I have tried both of the drivers (one says BDA and it shows up in the Sound, video and games controllers and the other shows up in the network).

I have checked both (uninstall one then install the other) and each time I get device working normal in the device manager but still the error above keeps showing up.

Any ideas on how to sort this out? Anybody got ProDVB to work on XP SP3 with the SS2?

Thanks, SB

I'm getting this as well, ever since installing SP3.

The only solution I've found is to open Device Manager (right-click "My Computer, Hardware, Device Manager), disable the SS2 and then immediately re-enable (I use the non-BDA drivers, so my SS2 shows up as a network adaptor). It's a pain having to do it after every reboot, but it works for me.

Thanks for the info. I tried it last night and again this morning and still no go. I even removed SP3 and now have SP2 but still I can not get ProgDVB to open without the error message. If I click the ok button ProgDVB runs but I can not get any satellite signal at all. I have installed and removed ProgDVB over and over trying both the older drivers that came on the CD (4.4.1.0) and the latest (4.4.3.0) on both SP2 and SP3 but still no go. I even pulled the ethernet cable and disable the firewall, updates and antivirus but still no go.

It looks like ProgDVB is just not going to run on this computer.

Perhaps the best thing for me to do at this time is to try some other DVB programs and see if I can get anything to work. Maybe later I can come back to ProgDVB and try to get it to work.

Later, SB

My System: Triax 60cm offset dish / single Invacom 0.3 LNBF / DM500-S

Hey all,

I just got my SkyStar USB 2 recently, running XP SP3, with the latest 4.4.3 driver installed.

Can't get ProgDVB to work either, but not too worried as I'm using my setup for one-way satellite broadband.

Hi, have you tried to start device in Progdvb device list. If Progdvb is not working, you can try DVBDream,it's much stable than Progdvb.

Hi Thend and the group,

Update - got it working. Looks like it had something to do with a package within the DVBViewer T.E. program.

What I did was remove ProgDVB and DVBViewer T.E. using the add and remove programs from the control panel then re-installed the full 4.4.3 package (including the DVBViewer T.E.) then re-installed ProgDVB.

Now it is working fine with SP3.

BTW - I do not use DVBViewer T.E. and found it installs a program called server4pc in the startup folder. Check your running programs (CTRL-ALT-DEL) I found that this program can be deleted from the startup folder without breaking ProgDVB. Just be sure not to remove the program using the control panel. Another words install the full DVBViewer T.E. package then delete the server4pc from the startup folder then forget about it.

ProgDVB has been working great for me ever since.

BTW - for some strange reason DVBDream did not work for me after making the changes above. Because I now have ProgDVB working I did not spend much time trying to sort out DVBDream.

Hope this helps, SB
