PCI vs USB

What are the differences between the PCI and USB versions of the SkyStar 2 decoder ? Assuming the functionality is the same, what are the advantages/disadvantages of each format ?

Thanks,

Allen

The software is exactly the same. Obvious difference is no need to add another card in the PC, especially if you are short of PCI slots.

Is the USB fast enough to handle as much data throughput as the PCI bus ?
This might be the solution to building a SFF PC as it would keep down the internal temperature, what do you think ?

My System: Dreambox 7000, Skystar2

The USB version is excellent, and can do everything that the PCI version can do EXCEPT drive a dish using diseqc 1.2.

I have both the PCI and USB versions.

Heat build up and power consumption is a major problem in a small case, so USB is ideal if you have no motor. That's why I bought mine.

The driver software is 'standard' between the two versions, but different components are installed, based on which version you have.
