My System: newbie deciding what to get
Wink What plugin versions are needed for softcam to see discovery/ nat geo & MTV

Hi there

MY SETUP:
I've got a 85cm motorized dish - but it's stuck on hotbird for now till i get my head around on this encryption/decryption stuff.

I have a computer with sky start 1 card that has a cam slot & this software loaded:
progdvb 4.72.5[0.82]
Vplug 0.8.4
YANKSE 1.033TT
s2emu Ver 1.24

I've noticed I can decrypt with the latest softcam key - viaccess channels.

However I'd like to get - National Geographic / Discovery (all of em) / MTV - preferably french.

But can't get any of them (error - invalid keys or No keys when i look into the plugin trying to decrypt). Please could advise - should I point to a different Sat (i've heard italia discovery has english....)have I got the correct versions of plugins or should I try other plugins, or is there some other formula I could apply to magically get these and other channels decrypted - i don't mind buying a cam if that'd help.Am I imagining it but about 2 weeks ago I could decrypt eurosport and tps channels with this setup - has something changed on the irdeto/Beta front?

Also I'm thinking of buying a dreambox - it appears to be able to decrypt more than a pc - is this the case?

Hi Yeahman,

I think you will find you can watch the same stuff on a PC as a dreambox - provided you have a set of keys that work for that channel. satellites is a great forum for help and advice but there are no keys here so you will need to use google and the big bad internet to find some key files.

I am not sure about the specific channels you are after, definetly Nat Geo and Discovery are part of a package I bet and you would need some keys to decrypt. I seem to remeber I am getting a MTV central channel somewhere (German announcers) in the clear though, but I can't remeber on which sat, possibly hotbird or astra at 19.2E.

Your best bet would be to check out Lyngsat for the channels that you want, then see if there are any keys to watch them on the internet somewhere - your mileage may vary!

There is def a nat geo on hotbird but I am not sure what package its part of thought, don't think its something I get at the moment.

Paul.

Smile thanks

thanks mate for confirming that the grass isn't greener on the dreambox! That'll save me alot of ££.

Cheers for the advise - i'll get onto lyngsat and find the channels - I heard that nat geo and discovery are on various providers & sats, some are decryptable and some aren't. I'd like to know which ones are - but I'll search them all out and let you guys know when I find out.

I've been quiet successful at getting the softcam keys but a little disappointed at how little it actually decrypts...................

cool i'll look for that Mtv channel on the sats you mentioned

cheers again
