Hi Santosh!

I am in Bangalore. I was also wondering whether or not I can be able to receive KTN (Kenya) on the panatlantic Beam of Atlantic Bird 3 at 5.0°W?

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 6 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/10E/13E/16E/ 19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

The last noble sat warrior to fly the olden flag of Analogue

KTN is on the C-band beam which looks like its just out of reach of Bangalore due to the satellite being below your horizon:

http://www.eutelsat.com/satellites/5wab3_popd.html#

(change to the C-band beam)

From that 5W is only available to the extreme western parts of India.

My System: coship receiver 2000,Dreambox 500;2 ku3cband dishes of 2,4,6&8feet,amd 64 pc with 1GB ram usb tv tuner card

I am not sure it is receivable on 8 feet dish due to the fact that it is located extremely below horizon. Some things are good in theory...
Normally ,we get 40 degrees plus or minus channels from our location.

Why

Why not have a look at the theoretical footprints for AB4 wide beam and decide for yourself, it would appear to be on the fringe and as to whether you will be able to receive it will be dependant upon the size of your existing dish

Thank you, for your response..... but the footprints does not cover the indore(Lat: 22.73 & Long: 75.87),,, it gets finished before the indore......that's why i was asking the possibilities of receiving from it...... i am thinking to buy an 120 cm dish........ is it sufficient???????

Hello

In my experience this bird can be tuned if you have a 6 ft and above off set dish . I will let you know about the receiption of this sat in few weeks ,since I am in the process of installing a motorised off set dish for tunning various sats.

No not from what I can see, with fringe reception the bigger the better but practical experience is the only way forward when dealing with fringe reception issues as what works for someone in one location may not work 10Km away

This forum serves all satellite enthusiasts including Indians and neighbourhood. The size 6 ft is good for beginners, insufficient to get russian satellites e.g.Yamal @90E in most (parts) of India.
