Sci-fi and horror movies with nice endings

I bet there's not many about. They all present doom and gloom and end usually on a doomier note.

If you know of an alien movie that has a good ending (I'm not talking about the alien dying), or a horror film with a neat and happy ending, I'd like to know.

I suppose ET has a happy ending, but then again, it was classed as a "kid's film". Not me saying that, but the box office.

DON'T SHOOT THE MESSAGER!!

I wish women would stop saying I'm very good looking. It's embarrassing...

A grim middle ..... but nice ending.

And, possibly, Destination Moon.

Plan Night From Outer Space had a bad ending.

It was its "beginning". Cheers, Spiney...

Presumably, you mean plan NINE (not NIGHT)!

Sci-Fi/Alien films

Independence Day
Close Encounters
War of the Worlds
Most of the Star Trek films
Most of the (earlier) Star Wars series
Almost all the Dr Who series

I am certain there are plenty of others

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"

Err, guess you're right, Channel, but a lot of carnage goes before the happy ending.

Well, Close Encounters certainly fits the bill (I forgot that one!).

War of Worlds does have lots of death and destruction ....

Star Trek usually has happy endings for the main characters (including resurrecting Spock!), but lots of carnage otherwise.

Depends what you mean by "happy ending" .......

Aye, Star Trek always has happy endings, for ALL of the main characters...funny how we're never bored by the fact neither Kirk, Spock, McCoy, etc - or any of the main cast - would ever die in the series.

My System: Dreambox with PLi-Emerald 1.09 image, Matrix revolution CAS, newcamd emu, movable dish 0.85 m, very happy indeed

no no - in "the wrath of kahn" Spock is actually killed at the end by radiation when saving the Enterprise. Fans all over the world burst into tears when they heard this .
Okay, we didn't know then they were going to ressurect him in the next movie, but that hardly qualifies as a 'happy ending'.

Also, Earth Versus the Flying Saucers has a happy ending, but only after Washington is destroyed .......

(Gone With the Wind has a "happy ending", but only after the USA civil war ......!).
