Amstrad DRX400 problem

Hi all, new here, be gentle with me
I have been given an Amstrad DRX400 which has been unused for some time. When I connect it to a (definately) working connection it comes up with a message "no satellite signal is being recieved". Im told this might be an easily fixable problem & NOT a fault...Any ideas? Thanx

First of all check the connections, make sure they are made properly.

You say it is a working connection, how do you know?

Yes, you may have a fault with the power supply that causes the no sat signal message or could be a connection fault as described.

My System: 3mtr Offset dish, 1.2m Dish Astra 1, 1m Dish Nilesat, 1m Dish Hotbird, Humax Freesat HDR, Cheap FTA Sat box, Quality AV.

Typical causes of this fault are - failure of one or more capacitors in the PSU or faulty tuner unit ( often caused by people doing up the f connector too tight and snapping the inner core in the tuner unit (as connector on box turns round).

The DRX400 are famous for this fault, rare to find a working one these days.

Very unlikely but.........
Check that that the default freq has not been changed. Seen it a few times where people change it when trying to add channels.
