Hey all,

Could we keep this thread clean and not allow for comments other than facts relating to the heading as written by Analoguesat?

It's very annoying reading through remarks that are irrelevant to the thread... Maybe a new poll to see if the thread should only be open to the sat master himself (AS)???

AS: Please delete my post if so needed...

Cheers

Wine TV (epg 264) has dropped onto coloured bars with Amrita on it. Is this the next channel closure due to the economic downturn or are they having technical problems??

There are also rumours starting to circulate that at least one "reasonably large broadcaster" is close to closing.

No more details available - I dont know who it is either so dont ask, and this thread is not the place to discuss it.

Raaj Radio ceased off 0141 yesterday afternoon. AT the moment the exact reason is not know, but things arent looking too good for them according to this from Biz Asia:

A source at the station's uplinking party confirmed the station was taken off air for reasons they could not disclose due to confidentiality. The source also could not comment on when and if the station would return.

At long last epg 829 has been changed to 9XM months after 9XM took over the old DD-India slot.

On 683 Tron Direct 1 has relaunched as a slapper on a sofa channel and has been renamed Bedroom TV. A move to the adult section will occur soon.

This was posted on the Digital Spy forum by one of the contributors who is involved with one of the channels on the sky platform:

Sky has just informed channels that it may be possible to reopen the launch queue for HD channels only (there's a surprise...) consequent on the restricted listing of HD channels on SD boxes.

They plan a consultation on this in the second half of 2009...so no immediate prospects of a new queue...

They also reiterate that there is NO prospect currently of reopening the queue for SD launches

Am I right in thinking this also has implications for Freesat launches owing to the complexities and intricacies of the EPG systems?

It shouldnt do - the delays in the Freesat epg additions are that each transponder has to have changes made at the "adaptation hub" which is a technical gubbins in the uplink chain. Changes are made a few at a time so that anything added to Freesat doesnt knacker the Sky epg system.

The epg freeze was started when the Sky techinical guys realised the oldest boxes were running out of memory. To be honest the boxes affected are around 10 years old and there cant be many of them left, so why not just let them die.
