New SKY Card, Cancelled Subscription??

I have been with SKY for years up untill bout a year or 2 ago and had to cancel due to the fact of the extorted prices (but never said that to SKY, lol) I just said I have to cancel due to money problems and they said they'll keep us on the books so they won't have to charge us a connection fee, or should I say a fee for non existing customers..

I'm wanting to know, will they still send out the upcoming new SKY viewing card??

I have the digibox and card still but rarely use the digibox cos now use the dreambox

From what I have seem, you might be OK, it was posted somewhere here that you should get a new card up till 5 years, if you were subscribing to them and 3 years if you bought a FTV card from them. That is my understanding of the situation and I hope for you that I am right.

No, they won't send you a new Card.

The only ones that will be replaced are current Subscription Cards, and FreesatfromSky Cards bought for the purpose up to 3 or 5 years ago (depending upon whether they were bought alone or with kit).

But a non-Subs Card is almost of no practical value these days anyway, now that Channel 4 and Five are not exclusively FTV.

if say sometime in April/May when the cards have been sent out, I phone Sky, and say that I'm unable to receive the likes of ch4, five fiver etc, cos i'm still on their books but not subscribed to the movies or sports etc.. would they send me a card out?? moreless saying that at this moment in time i cannot afford any form of subscription but willing to stay with sky so i'm ready for when i get some spare cash, cos the bottom line is sky don't want people to go to other providers do they...

provider as in Virgin Media (cable) or BTVision are what I mean but I'd say it to scare them, really I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole as I don't like Virgin and BT's services and I have been with Virgin before, years ago when they were known as NTL and Comcast, and frankly their services back then were nothing to shout about either, extortion extortion and a lot of picture/sound problems compared to Sky but I'm not letting Sky know this, lol

basicly, I like or should i say liked Sky until they started getting greedy, I have been with Sky as far back as the old analogue ASTRA 2 days and only went to cable for a bit to see what all the fuss was about then imediately went back to Sky and stuck with them through the digital switchover then from then the prices started to rise, and rise and yet again.... Rise, lol
now I have a dreambox and been using it for the last year and never looked back cos now i can switch between other sateliites too, but the worry I have with the Sky card is when the new cards r exchanged, i'll be stook for the **you know what** on the dreambox

Hi,

I think you can just buy another FTV card from sky

When they replace the cards they would only replace the cards that are active, if you called up and stopped your subbs the card would then only pick up the freeveiw as sky's network is open.

Their website says that FTV cards can be bought for £25.
