As per Analoguesats post BBC HD is showing a promo on 11856 v 29500 3/4 DVB S2 QPSK. There are 4 channels labelled 3850 to 3853 with 3853 being FTA and is the BBC HD promo. Anyway the point is can anyone confirm that all HD programming broadcast (currently on 2D) by the BBC is in-house productions. The reason I ask is if it is all in-house stuff then as they own the copyright then they can broadcast it across Europe as the do with BBC Prime? Thanks

Satcatcher Excel-TV, Lacuna Mk4 | I think this thing about BBC being on 2D because the beam is tighter is just another urban legend. BBC went to Astra 2D because there was space available. Up until that point they were using transponders leased from STS Astra to Sky (the same as various other broadcasters still do today). Let's see what happens when 2D drops out of service in a couple of years.

Satcatcher Excel-TV, Lacuna Mk4 | There won't be an immediate need for a new satellite once Astra 2C returns to 28.2ºE even when one of the others is decommissioned or suffers some catastrophic failure. That said, who knows what decisions might be passing through the boardroom of SES Astra?
