I was never asked to return the old card in a letter nor was an envelope provided there again perhaps I just did not read it properly!

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

I'm finally getting the Call Sky for a new Card Message (Just started today) - but I have no need of one and will just await the death of my Yellow House FSFS Card.

How long will the nag go on for as I loathe my "Backup" button?!

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

I cannot see them wanting a flood of old defunct cards, what does it say exactly on the letter?

Got my nag screen last Thursday on both boxes, cards arrived the following lunchtime.

The box will carry on displaying the nag screen at increasing intervals until it drives you daft. Every few minutes after a couple of weeks!!

So as I have no need of a new Card, is there a way I can strangulate this big brother intrusion ?

(I'm not entitled to a freebie - being a Yorkshireman, I checked that out ages ago!)

Not that I know of

Presumably the nag screens will disappear when the swap is completed around October!

Yes, I would think so!

I wonder if removing the Card now (and depriving myself of its wondrous advantages) might stop it?

Might try after Midsomer Murders ..................

TBH, I only ever use it now to get Red Button text via RF into the Bedroom to get a quick run around the News and Sport when I wake up - the main box in there is a generic FTA Box as SWMBO insisted the Freesat HD Box went into the Living Room

A FSFS card is barely worth having now.

It provides access to

Sky3
Fiver / +1
Five USA / +1
ITV in 6 small sub regions

It also puts

C4 +1
C5

on the epg although both are available fta via Other Channels.

In addition it correctly regionalises the epg, although if you arent too bothered about that then this bit doesnt matter

Whilst this may be true in some cases - one of the ITV regions available is TTS which is by far the strongest ITV signal you can get and this is important in fringe areas.

As time goes on I expect more will appear on the freesat epg - such as fiver and fiveUS and then it will be debatable if I wil renew my sky card as in the main I am using my Humax freesat box for most of my TV and to get HD (when and where it is available!)

Here in Valencia there is still the issue of geting good signals in the eveings - ITV2+1 is by far the weakest channel and regularly breaks up even when BBC2 is still strong (and BBC2 only breaks up in bad weather). My good old Pace 2600 boxes still outperform anything else - especially in bad weather so they won't be going just yet.

I do watch those channels from time to time, so I don't want to loose them. The only other option that I have is subscription, and I don't want to go there anyway. Since it is expensive for me to do so.

I might be able to use the card in the C-tech receiver (I got a cam module that works with it) that I have. But it does not update there.

My System: IP9000HD twin HD tuner operating > Triax TD110 Dish & 80cm FaVal Dish working in Tandem 60degEast to 60degWest Humax HDCI2000 operating > VboxII & 1.8 m Alcoa PF dish + Pauxis C-Band lnbf... Skystar2 /Twinhan SD /TS S2-3200 pci cards

..I got lucky ..
I checked my freesat card at slys website ..and was told I qualify for a free replacement.
..from what I understand you have to have paid your Ł20 within the last 2 years to a get a freebie.
I wasn't going to bother ...until I read that CH4HD has renewed its sly contract for the for at least another year.
Its the only thing the card is good for these days .
rgds 2 all
and thanks for the 'renewal' info in this thread.
