Tuning channels in FTA TV

Please advise. If my queries are not in the correct forum. If not where should they be?

I have a few queries about getting FTA channels. I would appreciate help.

1 My dish is for Asta2 (28.2 E), could I also get other satellites?

2 I have tried to get France24 without success, any more advice?

3 There is a channel, TV3, in Ireland which I used to be able to get, now I cannot get it on my TV that is set up for HD, but I get in on another TV set that does not have HD. What could be the reason?

4 How does one tune in a channel manually, what information is needed and where is it got?

Sorry for such vague queries, but I would appreciate help.

My System: Zone1, DSI8215 SkyHD, Thomson DSI4214, TF5000CI, Dreambox DM800 HD PVR - Nab BH0.12, TM-5200D, Gibertini 104cm, SNH-031, 36v Actuator, Vbox-II, 42°E to 30°W, Sling Media, Televes H45 Digital Processing Analyser, Satlook Micro+G2 NIT, Rover SDM 1s

Moved post to this section.

A couple of those questions I can answer.

1. For getting other satellites, assuming you have a fixed dish on 28e, the advice would be to go either motorised or multi LNb setup for more than one satellite viewing.

2. France 24 (in English) is transmitted from Eurobird 28.5 on frequency 11.661h, 27.5, 2/3. Eurobird will be received when aligned to 28.2e

4. Frequency, polarisation, and symbol rate. Most receivers default to auto FEC. Information at _http://flysat.com/ or _http://www.lyngsat.com/

Not without on eof the following taking place
1. Moving your existing dish away from 28.2 E
2. Fitting another lnb to your existing setup
3. Fitting a motor to your existing setup
4. Fitting a monobloc lnb to your existing setup
5. Fitting a second dish and disecq switch

Do you mean on terrestrial or through sky?

Everything on 28.2 E is here

TV3 is encrpted on satellite & requires a Sky subscription registered to an Irish address.

Thank you for all the very helpful replies.

First of all thanks for redirecting me to the correct place.

The problem with TV3 resolved itself. It would not work for some time, but now it seems ok. I do not receive the Irish channel on my dish, as they are terrestrial.

I will look at the web sites recommended and try to learn the meaning of the technical terms.

I will let you know how I get on.

Regards,

Noelfitz.

My System: Dreambox with PLi-Emerald 1.09 image, Matrix revolution CAS, newcamd emu, movable dish 0.85 m, very happy indeed

let me add that you can't use a skybox for anything else but Astra2 28E. If you want to receive FTA channels from other satellites, any cheap FTA receiver will do the trick, and if you want something more potent then you can always upgrade to a more powerful receiver later-on.

Don't think this is quite accurate!

You can use a Sky box on other satellites, but its extremely clunky and really not worth the hassle.
