I found exactly the same thing a short while ago- those £30 cards Sky provide are starting to look tempting. Would you get TCM if you without a subrciption but without a viewing card?

I expect that TCM has gone into the Family Package so without a subscription there will be no joy.

Yes, its official. I have an email from TCM which says that you have to have the Family Package fromm Sky to get TCM now.
I have just bought an FTA receiver and am now very disappointed with the range of channels available (apart from the BBC of course). TCM was one of the best.

I have been looking for FTA TCM, but its a bit of a haul going through all the listings on Lyngsat

I remember (from the time I used to seriously swing my dish around) that TCM was usually sewn-up in some or other provider package. I'd go as far to say that TCM was only ever free on SKY.

Received this from TCM:

Thank you for your e-mail. TCM will no longer be free to air on SKY, but will become part of their Family Pack.
The reason for doing this is to bring TCM in line with Turner's other entertainment channels and will enable us to deliver an effective service and better control of our signal.

TCM is available as a paid package on SKY, Telewest and Ntl. Please see our website tcmonline.co.uk for further details.

If you wish to subscribe to TCM please call one of the following cable & satellite providers:
SKY: 08702 40 40 40
Telewest: 0800 953 5383
Ntl: 0800 183 1234
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and trust you will continue to watch TCM - the home of unmissable movies.

Have Fun, Moo.

@ lexden, thanks for the information. Unfortunately, I still wanted to have TCM for free - coz that's the kind of person I am

Ramble: Isn't CNN FTA? Isn't CNN part of AOL Times were Warmer? Why don't they make that a Family Pack channel as well. I will write to them straight away and suggest it.

Does anyone know of any remaining AOL/TW channels that were/are free to watch on SKY/DSAT??? What about Babe Station?

Have Fun,

Mark.

TCM is also linked with Cartoon Network on 30W in Nagravision, so some can still get it without too much difficulty

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"

Yes I know, but my point is you can not by law receive it.
Unless you live in France. When is the EU going to
change its laws So that all the people in the EU.
Can receive all the programs from other EU member
countries. I live in Germany and I would pay to receive sky
But if I want to get it here I have to pay some third party to
get it..

Further to my last post I just found this maybe it
belongs in the news section.
HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS MUST REWRITE PAY-TV CONTRACTS
Hollywood studios will be asked within weeks to rewrite their contracts
with European pay-TV operations or face stinging fines, according to European
Commission insiders. Sources within the EC - the European Union's antitrust
authority - said on January 13 that the studios would be sent a formal "statement
of objections" shortly, outlining how the contracts break EU law. Sources
said the EC's statement will say the studios have colluded to set prices
and terms for movie rights distributed in the EU. The studios are alleged
to have insisted on a "most favored nation" clause in the contracts that
require pay TV companies to offer the same preferential treatment to all
movie studios. The likelihood of EU action against the studios follows a
lengthy antitrust probe into Hollywood's licensing deals with Europe's $45.5
billion pay-TV operations.
