Loss of Ch4 in Cyprus

Well I for one cannot get the test Ch4 on 12480, so that is that for me and SKY in Cyprus. I'll be giving up my £21 SKY sub, and spending more time on the beach and back-gammon board!
One day these broadcasters will see common sense and go back to where we were in early 2003.
I hope many others join me by voting with their feet, but I've been around long enough not to be so foolish as to hold my breath,

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 6 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/10E/13E/16E/ 19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

Why are you giving up your sky sub? C4 wasnt part of the sky sub anyway - it was conditionally scrambled and regionalised, nothing more. Not a €-cent of your subscription went to C4

One day these broadcasters will see common sense and go back to where we were in early 2003.
Never going to happen - in fact it will get worse as the other ftv channels switch over to 2D at some point.

Exactly my point, I should have/could have given up my SKY sub ages ago. It is Ch4 which is my loss as far as I am concerned, not SKY.
Pity Ch4 don't get its act together and make itself available as a subscription channel on a non-SKY/Astra satellite. It was Ch4 we watched 95% of the time, the other 5% watching the news channels which I can still get on the same dish here with a Freesat type receiver

No doubt its too much trouble getting all the international clearances - remember C4 dont make programmes - they buy them in from independant production companies, and all the transmission agreements would have to be renegotiated, at vast cost to them for very little extra benefit

Well you are right Analogue, but one can live in hopes (probably to die in despair!) that things might change sometime. There IS a niche in the market for someone to transmit the UK BBC/ITV/Ch4/Ch5 stuff on a subscription basis, and the market is, numerically, bigger than some might suppose. We want someone like Stelios of Easy Jet or O'learey
of Ryanair of the airline business but for SATTV. "EasySAt"?? Dream on Geoff!!
Cheers,

The LAST person you want is O'Leary!

He'd charge you for the subscriptiom, charge you for the transmission, charge you for the reception and charge you for having to make all the charges!!
