Talking Cant get Astra 2D? Heres where to find the main psb channels

You wont get all the UK Public Service Broadcast channels but there are a few available away from Astra 2D if you know where to look.

All frequencies are SR 27500 FEC 2/3 unless otherwise mentioned.

BBC channels
the main broadcast channels are only available on Astra 2D
Six or seven BBC Interactive streams are on 12441V (Astra 2B South beam) These are flagged as data streams so some receivers wont see them

ITV 1
12402V - (2B North beam) (all ftv - moved off 2D when ITV had to hand back 10714H)
Anglia West
Central SW
Meridian North
Meridian SE
Tyne Tees South
Yorks East

ITV 2 - 4
only available on 2D

Unless otherwise mentioned the channels below are ftv NOT fta and the Irish version

Channel 4 / 4 +1
TTon4 is on 12480V (Astra 2A north beam) fta
C4 is on 12480V (Astra 2A north beam) ftv
C4 +1 on 12480V (Astra 2A north beam) ftv

E4 / E4 +1
E4 is on 12480V (Astra 2A North beam) requires a subscription level card to open it
E4 +1 is on 12480V (2A North beam) requires a subscription level card to open it

More 4 / More 4 +1
More 4 is on 12480V (Astra 2A North beam) requires a subscription level card to open it
More 4+1 currently only available on 2D

Film4 / Film4 +1
both currently only available on Astra 2D

4Music
4Music is only available on 12070H (Astra 2B North beam), and at the moment is a pay service in the music mix.

Big Brother feed
normally uses the feed tagged as 12005 on 12480V (Astra 2A North beam) when BB is on air. It can be one of two encryption states - ftv level or fta but flagged as scrambled. If its the latter its not available to Sky boxes. Not being used for BB10 in 2009

Channel 5
Three of the four C5 sub regions are currently carried on 2A South beam not on 2D, so should be available to most folk in Europe. All are ftv. (C5 Region 2 - most of mainland UK apart from Yorkshire & Scotland - moved to 2D on 18/8/2009)

5USA / 5USA +1 / Fiver / Fiver +1
none of these are currently carried on Astra 2D so should be available in most of Europe.

My System: No Setup Yet

Excellent!

I did have some issues with it not displaying channels - just a message to ring sly or an upgrade and get robbed,

But an excellent list for reference.

My System: Clarke-tech 1500, Metronic Zapbox Twin 2, Pace MSS138 , Pace 2600. Several dishes 28E 26E 19E 16E 13E 10E 9E 7E 1W 5W 30W 45W

Great that I can still get C4 on my Pace2600. I thought I´d lost it for good as Astra2D horizontals are too weak on my undersized 1m50 dish in NW Spain. I´ll add it to the extra channels menu tonight. Many thanks Analoguesat!

Not only is the C4 channel still blank, but its lost its epg info - which is what I was working on last night. So not quite sure what going on there now.

Ive also received info that the E4 / More4 Irish versions arent ftv - can some folks confirm please? I'll change the status on the top post in the meantime.

My System: TiVo & Sky/Astra 2D on a 1.8m Andrews dish. Canal Digital on 80cm fixed dish. DM800HD and DM500 on both dishes.

Yes, Irish E4 and More4 are subscription, but any UK subscription works for them.

All I know is - E4 Ireland works on my first box with my basic UK subscription but not with my second box with a UK FTV card - crazy.

Looks to me like More4 Ireland and E4 Ireland have left 11565V - I can only get these on 12480 now - still there though, thank you Channel 4, yes, I love your output and I will buy all the things in your adverts in return for you not going 100% to 2D

Also worth mentioning the neat dodge for receiving interactive content on BBCi if you can't receive 2D:
You can access the Red Button channels without the need of 2D by using the following on a Sky Digibox:

Select channel 503, BBC News.

Press text.

Key in 3001 and press Select.

This should give you access to any interactive channels.

Note these channels only have content occasionally, but when active show sport and events such as Proms, live concerts and special programmes.

Those widebeam Irish versions of C4 may be about to disappear. A new C4 label has appeared on 10714H and a C4 +1 label has appeared on 10729V.

Both are currently inactive, but if usual form is followed there should be some action on them next week.
