sony vtx-s760u

For the past week or so my sony s760 skybox is giving me problems.

Picture quality is fine but the sound is not.

The sound is mixed with interference noise like that you get with old analogue radios.

I phoned up sky and they advised me to switch off the box and restart after 30 secs. This worked but only for around 5 mins then retruned. When the noise gets unbearable the above resolves it but only for 5 mins or so...now this noise is driving me nuts.

I was told it was static build-up so I've tried leaving it unplugged for the past couple of nights but no luck.

Can someone suggest something.

Thanks

Those old Sonys are getting on now - its probably got an power supply component failure.

Buy a new box and give the Sony a decent burial Or if you are attached to its slimline looks get it repaired:

Once a customer always a customer

jYou could ring sky and ask for a callout - which will cost 65 quid, or threaten to cancel and hope they give you a free callout. In either case you will probably get a refurb box.
