Losing audio on Astra 28.2

Hello,
I have an 80cm dish aligned to Astra 28.2, mainly for Freesat (I'm in northern France). A few weeks after installation, I started having audio drop-out, ranging from complete loss of sound to intermittent short drop-outs. LNB signal level is consistently around 63% even when there's no sound.

Is this symptomatic of slight misalignment, or is something else going on?

We've had some pretty strong winds this summer, and the dish is fairly exposed.

Thanks
D.

Hi SM,
Yes, all channels lose sound, although some noticeably more than others, and there seems to be no degradation in the picture quality. I've switched connectors to eliminate dodgy leads. The only loss of picture came with total signal loss during a couple of thunderstorms.

Sounds like it could well be dish alignment causing the problem.
Severe rain will obviously cause signal loss to some degree.

If it's signal related, the sound will pop and screech is the best way to describe it

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

If you are getting extended sound loss but no degradation of picture, it is unlikely to be dish related, more likely scart leads or receiver failure.

I've already switched scart leads with no joy. The loss of audio is exactly that - no sound whatsoever intermittently, not the pop/screech described by SM, and signal strength is good.

So the finger is starting to point at the receiver... although its odd that it varies with time.

I'll try to borrow another receiver for comparison.

Thanks

Ah..... ok, No popping sound - not signal related then

As you say you have changed the scarts, try connecting to the TV via audio out from phono's and see what happens. If that works then you may have faulty pins on the output of the scart connection on the receiver

It's worth a stab

Just tried the phono connection - same result - so it can't be the scart output
