My System: Sky
Astra 2 or Eurobird? (sorry, noob question)

Hi there,

First post. Apols for noob question, have tried searching for answer to this but cannot find answer.

We have Sky+, or rather had! I need to realign my dish (got knocked out of alignment - don't ask!). I know Sky uses Astra 2 and Eurobird 1 and think I am right that I need to point my dish to both as they are in a cluster? I have looked up the setup data on dishpointer.com and the azimuth and elevation settings are virtually identical for the two however for Astra 2 the skew is -14.1 and for Eurobird is -21.8. Which setting should I use?

Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

My System: TM6800HD, TM1000, TM600 Linux,TM5200, TM2200 motor, Triax TD110 dish + Fortec 85cm. Meter=Satlook Micro+G2 NIT

I never pay attention to the figures, instead just twiddle it around until you get a good quality signal on all transponders.

My System: Cuberevo Twin HD on a 85cm motorised Fracarro Penta dish. Superior Dark Motor. Inverto BLACK Ultra Single lnb (IDLP-SINL40-ULTRA-OPP)

With the strength of Astra and Eurobird, it is fairly easy to just point and align the dish. Tune to a channel on your TV and keep moving your dish around until you find the signal. Then tweak it further by testing other channels.

Take a look at Sky dishes around you and get the general direction to point it. The map on Dishpointer is pretty good for knowing the general direction to point it or you could use a compass. Trail and error and a bit of time, you'll find it.

Just consider for practical purposes that Astra 2 and Eurobird are co-located.

Get one, you'll get the other.

Starting by pointing the Dish in the same direction as others nearby is a good lead-in, but it is virtually impossible to eliminate parallax and you stand a good chance of hitting on Astra 1 at 19.2E (As evidenced by many, many first timers saying they have a Signal but can't get any Channels!).

No problem, though - if that happens, just wang the Dish a bit further East and down a tweak.
