Welcome,

Channels mentioned are transmitted on the spot beam (2d) - tightly focused on the Uk there's a slight overspill across the water allowing reception with smaller dishes. Your location will certainly require a larger dish to have any chance of reception from this beam. Be prepared to invest in a dish of around 3.5 - 4m in size

Hope you got a big car! You do realise just how big a 3.5 to 4 m dish is dont you?? Even segmented its still going to take up a hell of a lot of space.

English TV is not legally transmitted on any other satellite apart from 28.2/5 East

Close to a thousand quid for a good one!

You might be better off importing one from Cyprus - they are used to big dishes there to get the BBC channels.

BTW - in the absence of many (any??) reception reports from Lesvos we are guessing the dish size - it quite possible you would need a bigger one! (extreme fringe reception is often spotty).

Yep, across the water a 4mtr required for the Aydin/Izmir region of Turkey, and then not all 2d transponders are received.

Reports about 2D in Greece are very rare because of the huge dish sizes you need. I'd recommend in reading this here as well:
_http://www.satellites.co.uk/satellite/sky-digital-bskyb-uk-platform-astra-28-2e-astra-2d-fringe-reception-tech/150331-chios-greece.html
There you will find another link to sites of shops inside of Greece that have installed dishes for 2D. Expect something really big. Besides that 2D is supposed to work max til 2012. What then will happen nobody knows and it might be that an expensive dish will be useless if you just plan to use it for this satellite.

I demand: Pay-TV subscriptions worldwide available - with any receiver - just like print magazines !
