FIVE EPG on SKY off Astra 2A?

3 different boxes near me all outside 2D zone reporting "No Satellite Signal" as of 19:00 on Tuesday 18th August for FIVE on a Sky Digibox.

Maybe FIVE have moved off 2A, at least for the EPG listing thanks to FREEVIEW?

FIVER and FIVE USA still ok via Sky Box EPG.
FIVE still on Other Channels via: 12422 H, 27500, 2/3

I can report exactly the same.
Excuse the ignorance but is there a way round this? Cant seem to get Five or any channel relating to it to appear in other channels.
I am on Costa Blanca east coast Spain 70k south Valencia.
Thanks.

If you want it on the epg you would have to "move" to an unaffected area - or watch it through Add Channels / Other Channels.

Update on the region that moved to 2D - apparently its Region 2:

Region 2 - South, Midlands, East, Wales, Northern Ireland

hi jeremy...

you should have access to the other three versions of FIVE on 12422H on your dish - as I can get the on my 80cm dish ATM - and I'm less than a KM away from you!!!

On your Sky remote control:
Press Services
Press 4
Press 4
Type in the Frequency of
12422
H
27.5
2/3
And go to Find CHannels and Press Select.
On this frequency sites the other 3 FIVE regions.
Press the Yellow button and you wil place a TICK next to the top FIVE.
Press Select - and you get the channel line up complete.

You have now added a Sky card, strong signal FIVE to your Other Channels list.

To access this Press Services, and go to your Other Channels list and select FIVE.

Note if you have a Sky+ or Sky HD box then you will not be able to record any of the channels in your Other Channels list.

Or get a sky card that is registered in another regional area!

Also off on a box registered with card in Brighton area - so Region 2 would be better than original post. Still on Other Channels though so no need to panic yet.

Yup - see post 4.

Most cards registered to English, Irish or Welsh cards will now be mapped to 2D for C5.

Scotland and Yorkshire cards are still mapped to 2A

Hi John
Thanks for your detailed reply. I tried all of the above at time of posting here yesterday but to no avail. The signal must have been poor at that time.
I now have got Five tuned into Other Channels. Incidentally, I went 80metres up the road and checked Mike and Vera's set up and at 15.00pm yesterday they still had Five on the epg on 105 !! Not sure how they are fairing today but I shall find out later.
Thanks again
J.

I'd say were be seeing 'five' going off-air on 12.422h some time fairly soon then.

Funny thing with my five here, I have it in my other channels and there was no EPG for five for ages, it has now appeared again, just now and next as that is all you can get from the other channels. I have it there because the other person living here and the one who watches five, even then not that much, likes it there for their convenience.

Thats because the fta freesat version is now the Region 2 version of C5

Old system:
4 separate scrambled C5 Regions (1-4)
Astra 2D fta transmission for Freesat (no epg)

New System

3 separate scrambled C5 Regions (1, 3, 4)
Astra 2D fta transmission for Freesat (which is also C5 Region 2)

So C5 save 20% of their basic carriage costs by dropping one stream

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

Well spotted, Wez!

I've just checked on my FTA Boxes and the previously lone 2D version (The one which was crammed onto 100773 for BBC/ITV Freesat at launch last May) of Five which bore no Now & Next Data is now doing so.

Happy Days.

Edit: AS hits the tape first ........... Again!

My System: Various digiboxes, broken Nokia 9800S, numerous analogue boxes. My lovely little lappy, HP Omnibook 6100

One wonders how long Five will keep the encryption on the remaining streams as they must have managed to get out of their contract with $ly for one one of them.

That really depends on some capacity being freed up on 2D - which is rather limiting at the moment.

Adverts. Nothing else.

To be honest theres not really any need for regionalising C5 - I wouldnt be at all surprised if the 2A regions dont disappear eventually

but it will depend on the UK addrress where their sky is registered....
one indication will be what the bbc1 and itv1 regions are on 101 and 103...
(i know thye cannot get these on their 80cm dish, but you can still see the regions on the EPG!)

The five regions are shown here: _http://about.five.tv/sales/spot-advertising/macro-map

It is the green region 2 that is now on 2D and is received by the SKY EPG with cards on post codes in that area and on freesat.

The website says ...

'Not all advertisers want to advertise to the whole country. This map highlights how we can split the country into macro regions to cater for more regional advertisers. '

Absolutely right, those in Wales would most definitely need ads for Ulster Bus and Ronan O'Gara telling us about how important it is to drink Lucozade Sport in the last 15 minutes of the game....likewise those in Northern Ireland would love ads for Cornish pasties...lol

I agree. The "green region" (region 2) certainly seems to include a bizarre mix of areas of the UK that have nothing in common. Presumebly this is the reason they use it as the "national" region for freesat.

I think they need a bigger split....

> London & home counties
> South East
> South West
> Midlands
> Wales
> Northern Ireland
> North of England
> Scotland

would just about do it.

BTW - I saw an Ulster Bus heading down the M6 in Lancashire a couple of weeks ago - it seemed equally bizarre . . . . .
