My System: Have a satellite system in Spain and looking to upgrade to very large dish. PC - Home made and has overclocked CPU to 4.0Ghz water cooled
Choice of large dish in Javea Spain

I live in the UK and have a villa in Javea Spain which I visit regularly (at least every eight weeks). In Spain I have a small dish (1.2M) and a Pace 2600. I also use a local re-broadcast service which I must say is very good. However I now wish to install a large dish. I have spent the last few years looking at these types of forums and realise that I live in the worst area for Astra 2d coverage sitting in a side lobe from the sat antenna.
The dishes I am looking at are the Famaval 2.4M, Andrews Channel Master 2.4M or the Aerial OY 2.4M. I do not wish to purchase a multi petal dish as I know it will be difficult to achieve the parabolic surface accuracy. Originally CM had a one piece 2.4M dish but now it is two pieces. Has anyone compared the CM two piece against the Famaval and has anyone any experience of the Aerial OY 2.4M. Famavals are used mostly in this area but the construction seems a bit weak whereas the Aerial OY seems to be more robust. The CM is going to be the most expensive with the Aerial OY mid range and the Famaval cheapest. I would appreciate any help from your experience regarding the decision I am about to make.

My System: Gibertini 1.5m, Jaeger 1224, Vantage x221 TS CI... Fibo 90, Mot-Sat3, Manhattan Plaza XT-M... Satcatcher Excel-TV, Lacuna Mk4

Javea isn't the worst, Alicante is. In Javea on a 2.4 you can receive horizontals for part of the day, in Alicante you can't. The Famaval dish works fine and is what 80% of people with 2.4 metre dishes have. I've never seen a CM dish here on the Costa Blanca bigger than a 1.8 metre, but the gain for the 2.4 metre CM should be the same as the Famaval. If you want a bit more gain from the Famaval you can add the extender panels which make the dish 3.1 metres, almost doubling the dish capture area. It won't get you horizontals 24/7 but you'll be able to watch them for a few hours longer than everyone else.

For verticals only a 1.8m should be fine. Here in Alicante my Gibertini 1.5m and Inverto Black Ultra work ok for 2D verticals with pixelization on some transponders after midnight.
