Sky digital support forum at Sats UK, Everything involved on the hardware and software side of reception of the channels from 28.2/28.5 East BskyB, special focus on fringe reception of Astra 2D for UK free to air channels
We have just lost Channel 4 and 4+1 in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands on 12480V. The Digibox is displaying the message “No satellite signal is being received”. It’s not just us, several other people in Fuerteventura are reporting the same problem. Is this happening anywhere else?
i have just scanned 12480v and all is still there as it was yesterday...
and as far as i can tell no reception issues where I am....on the mainland spain
could be a more local issue - like somone transmitting a more powerful signal on a similar frequency, or they have "tweaked" the satellite a bit...and corrected its orbit - do they do this?
My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.
12480 V is still transmitting the Irish Channel four, E4 etc - This is why Analoguesat and satelliteman can confirm as ok.
The problem is that it is probably transmitting on a different satellite and therefore a different beam - EG moved from 2B North beam to Eurobird S1 or similar.
That doesnt rule out local interference - its quite possible for it to knock out just one frequency.....
heard another example of this happenig down torrevieja way....a 2.4m dish got all but the main BBC and iTV channels....but where there when the installer stood just in front and at the side of the dish!!!!
a few hours of headscratching and phonecalls and the problem was found....a rebroadcater transmitter located on the hill on that side of the dish... a hastily erected wooden fence blocked / reduced the signals from the trasnmitter to the dish and BBC and ITVs all popped in!
Yep either that or one possible solution is they have switched over 12.480v to 2B North (not received in Canaries) and moved 12.402 (as received) over to 2A North.
I'm inclined to believe that they've moved from 2A north beam, I'm now receiving Channel 4, 4+1, etc. with full signal quality here in Central Italy which is almost unheard of for my 1.25m dish as 2A north is the weakest 'non 2D' beam here. Normally only have 35-40 % quality on this transponder at the strongest time of day.
It may be possible they are doing something similar to what they did on fox-turk 36e when the English premier footy was on, only on a more permanent basis
Remember when they kept lowering the uplink power just before the game so it went black in the UK but it was still ok in Turkey
Sanity is nothing more than an excuse to be boring
