My System: FTE Max, Skystar2.3 and Skystar2.6, 2.2m Kinhuge Dish with Inverto LNB and Invacom ADF-120 feedhorn. Pace 1.3.25 and 80cm for Sky.

Maybe the Satellite has moved (or is in the process of moving) and has slightly twisted on it's axis.

As I thought. That means they (Astra SES) would have had to reposition TWO satellites - I doubt that is what has taken place. More likely a move to their respective south beams, or one moved onto the other satellite (an idea already floated earlioer in this thread).
Whatever the actual explanation, I appeal to Astra SES:
"THANK YOU - PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES. AT LONG LAST WE HAVE SOMETHING WORTHWHILE TO WATCH AGAIN IN SUNNY CYPRUS"

I just got this from a fairly reliable source

There has been a problem on Tuesday evening - Astra 2a - where the transponder went into failure mode, so to prevent it failing completely several frequencies were moved to astra 2b. This has had the effect of changing the footprint with parts of Europe
losing ITV.Ch 4, E4 and E4+1.

When (if?) Astra 2C comes home can it cover 2A/2B/2D frequencies if there are more failures?

Now this seems to make sense....except for the fact that 12070 H seems to have gone from 2B to Astra 2A North. Why would this have happened??

Wikipedia says 10700 - 12200.

But, SES Astra's fact sheet says 11700 - 12500.

Certainly would make sense as the channels gained here on 12382 (CH 998 and Box office stuff) are not a big loss if failure does occur. Same with 12070 as the sports in pubs can be covered using the domestic ones if necessary.

Just to give further info... The Freqs 12480 V (Brit Asai + Ch 4) are viewable at the mom albeit with a low signal.
The Freq 12070 H (Fox News) ok as well (with a stronger signal than the 12480). Also freq 11992 (Blighty Ch.)
No Itv Channels except ITV HD (FREQ 11426 H) and rather poor. Will probably be better in the evening. All this from Malta location (South). This on a 1.2 m Dish.

Hans, in Cyprus (not cypress) the reception conditions are quite weird, indeed not at all comparable to your location. To make it short, the recommended dish sizes are at least 2.7m in the West and 4.2m in the East of Cyprus but forget the Verticals. So it depends on which BBCs and in particular which frequency you mean.

Now to the 2C factsheet: Looks to me as if SES Astra is getting less and less reliable in their information politics. Have a look at the attached pdf dated 1.11.2004 which i had saved from their web site years ago. This means 2C can take over the 2D frequencies BUT since the footprint can be changed don't be that sure that it will have the same almost paneuropean coverage that it had once from 19.2E or 28.2E. They could move it over the Atlantic and just cover Ireland and the UK with the most northeastern corner of it.

Question

Hi.

I have just been reading through the thread and there are so many observations and theories that it is a bit confusing.

Is there any chance that one of the "techies" (like AnalogueSat) could post a summary of what the known facts are so far?

Thanks in advance.
