Eclipse season arrived a couple of days ago for Astra 2D and will last until around October 15th. Today the satellite entered the earth's shadow around 21:45 UTC (23:45 Spain time) and left the shadow around 35 minutes later. The signal level effect is very noticeable from here. ITVs were unwatchable and BBC1 CI was heavily pixelized. Signal level returned to normal at 22:20 UTC.
At the centre of the eclipse season, when the sun is directly over the equator, the blackout will last 66 minutes centred around 22:00 UTC.
Also, for anyone who lives near me (Alicante) we're all lined up for daytime blackouts starting this week when the Sun, satellite and ground station all line up for a few minutes every morning centred around 11:40 am Spain time. |
