Difficulty receiving 2D in Sweden

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this thread business and posting so if I'm in the wrong place for this question please forgive me.

I live in southern Sweden and have a 2m prime focus solid dish aimed at Astra. It is connected to a Sky+ Thomson HD box and receives everything perfectly except BBC and ITV channels. I thought this was due to me being too far off beam, however it seems that I should be able to get Astra 2D with the size dish I have.

Can anyone suggest why I don't?

Thanks and hello

Hello

Welcome to the forum Shadowman23

Well you say you are tuned to Astra, but which Astra? Astra 1 at 19 East or Astra 2 at 28.2 East.

Name some channels that you are receiving along with their frequencies.....so that we can tell which your are pointing at.

2D has a very tight footprint as shown on this link

But I would have thought a 2mtr would be OK from Southern Sweden

I get Sky 1HD, all of the Discovery channels along with Sci-fi etc. I don't know what frequencies they are on sadly. Am I correct in saying that these are on different transponders on the same satellite?

Sorry, I meant to say thank you Topper for your reply.

I looked at the Lyngsat map and it indicates that 2D does not reach my part of Sweden but there is a side lobe that covers a narrow band across my area.

Do both Astra 1 and 2 sats transmit Sky digital broadcasts? If they do it is possible I am looking at the wrong bird. Having said that, when I was looking around for the signal the only satellite that seemed to have Sky on was the one I am currently aimed at, and as I mentioned before, it has all the stations on except BBC and ITV.

Cheers

Ok looking at what you are receiving obviously you are on the correct cluster of satellites however you appear to be receiving Astra 2B
_http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/astra2b_south.html

as sky1 HD is on

Astra 2B 28.2 E 12344 H 29500 3/4 Videoguard 2B
