Astra 2D signal strength.

I have 80% Signal & 90% Quality on the std signal.

What Siganl/Quality should i expect on the 2D transponders.

I am west of Oslo, 1.6m offset dish with Invacom c120 lnb + feedhorn. I have also MTI twin which gives the same Sig/Qual.

Impossible to answer as its different for every location, every dish / lnb combination, and every receiver.

What signal /quality do you actually get on 2D??

It's also impossible to predict the Footprint to the accuracy you'd require to forecast your readings.

In any event, as long as you can get lock with a decent rain margin, the exact figures don't matter anyway - although obviously optimising for max. Quality will improve your rain margin.

I am not getting any signal on 2d

I had a smaller dish before and was getting 40/50 split, MORE4, E4 etc, but now I cannot get any signal. I would have thought that when i was on Astra i should have rec'd some signal.

I suspect you need to re-align more carefully as a larger diameter dish requires greater accuracy of alignment than a smaller diameter one

Are you sure you were watching E4 / More 4 on 2D?? There are versions available on other satellites as well:

Ok in that case you did have Astra 2D

Tweak the alignment of the dish, although before you start make sure the lnb skew is correct

OK. I have checked the skew and that got the default signal up to 80/90.

A couple of quick questions

. I have read somewhere that I can change and save the default transponder by removing power whilst still in the Installers menu. is that correct or will the box, Pace 2600c1, always default back to factory settings.

Do i need to adjust the "LNB settings" frequencies? As the factory defaults are not the same as on the MTI twin lnb i have?

As long as you can see the North beam (which you can), adjusting the default frequency will do nothing and will revert to 11778 by default.

Yes if your lnb does not have the standard 9.75 and 10.6 GHz local oscillator frequencies.

well looks like i am going to get a new single MTI, as i have just blown my Twin MTI up , unplugged the tv and not the Pace box aaagh. No signal now. Also it was full of rain water. The Invacom seems to be a better design.

You don't, that's the Ku band (10.7 to 12.75 GHz).

The LNb settings should be 9.75 & 10.6

If the cable is full of rain water the entire run will need replacing immediately. It may well be the reason why you have some frequencies missing, and is a severe danger to the satellite receiver.

BTW its pretty unlikley you have damaged the lnb - they are reasonably robust Ive disconnected and reconnected them whilst equipment is powered up several times over the years - havent wrecked one yet (BTW - this is not recommended!)

Thanks for the answers.

Looks like the water was going down the feedhorn. I opened up the MTI yesterday and hair dryed it until there was no more water. I then installed the Invacom, got a signal 80/90. Re-installed the MTI, but still no signal. I have left the covers off so it can dry, and i'll try again tonight.

I have 2 x Pace 2600c1 boxes, so i tried the suggestion on the net to change the default transponder and unplug before leaving the Installers menu. IT WORKS. The default transponder when switched on then remains at the setting you. Quite handy for tweaking fringe reception, as you do not have to keep going in the menus when the box times out because of no signal. So now i have one set with Default Transponder and the other set to 10729.

I have now tweaked and tweaked and tweaked and i am getting 90/90 onon both 12207V 27.5, 2/3 (2B south) and 12480V, 27.5, 2/3 (2A north), but still no 2D . Are the single MTIs that much better then the single invacom?
