Dave have you tried any Satellite Tracking software to see if you can compare the satellite position with your reception loss ?? I use NOVA (free demo available at
www.nlsa.com) which gets upto date orbit data from Space-Track.org (NORAD data) and you can see in realtime or even fast forward/rewind and show what the orbit is/was/will be doing.
I am not completely convinved that orbit changes are the only reason you loose signal as you will always see some natural diurnal variation in level especially on the fringe due to propogation changes over the average day and year.
