sky sat signal weak

Hi, hope someone can help.

I Live in North Essex and have an amstrad digi box (one of the first to come out). I've been getting a message on my screen saying "no signal being recieved" but some times the pictures are there and other times they're not. If you power down (using the remote) this will clear it, or you have to go through the epg to get the station. It happens on BBC, Sky sports news but I've not noticed it on the UK+ channels

In the services menu my signal strength is about half but the signal quality nil!

There are no trees etc blocking my dish

Can you get a signal booster to fit to the sat cable?

Thanks for looking

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

Sounds like the receiver is possibly on the blink, if you have no obstructions in front of the dish and sometimes the signal is fine, then the box is a prime candidate.

Do you know anyone who can bring their box to try on your dish and vice versa?

Rolf

Just a thought, I had to re-aline my sons dish when the bbc changed there transponders. and one of my setups the cable and lnb suffered in the heat this summer and had to be replaced, But go with rolfw first before you start mucking about and spend any money.
